Class 1: Getting Started With Analytics: 2pm-3:45pm

Michelle Wetzler, Director and Data Engineer, Keen IO & Josh Dzielak, VP of Engineering at Keen IODo you know what features in your mobile app or website are used most? Do you know what landing page converts more visitors? In this introduction to analytics class, you'll review some of the ways you can use analytics to improve your product. You'll learn analytics terms like engagement, retention, conversion, cohorts, and segmentation. You'll also explore a sample data set and do some simple exercises that illustrate data modeling and querying.

Level & Prerequisites: You should be curious about big data or analytics and have at least some exposure to data.  You have probably used Excel or Google Analytics at some point and are most likely working at either a software company, or on the mobile app or website for your company. Bring your laptop and a desire to learn! Michelle Wetzler is a Director and Data Engineer at the analytics company Keen IO. In addition to running Keen IO internal analytics, she teaches classes on analytics, helps customers, and does analytics consulting. Prior to Keen IO, Michelle was a Technical Architect at Accenture and managed large-scale SAP and Salesforce implementations. 
Josh Dzielak is the VP of Engineering at Keen IO. Josh is an scalability and distributed systems engineer. He does backend and frontend engineering at Keen IO in addition to analytics consulting. Prior to joining Keen IO, Josh was the Lead Engineer at Togetherville which sold to Disney a few years ago.

Wondering what lies beyond Google Analytics? We built Keen IO for modern developers. In this hands-on workshop you'll use Keen IO to collect custom event data and learn how you can use APIs to programmatically query your data and build analytics features into your app.
