    Because games and other apps already have loaded the content you see on screen. When you load, say, Temple Run, and you’re browsing the menus, there’s no lag since it’s already been loaded. It doesn’t end literally all processes, but prioritizes fluidity over performance. There are exceptions to this, such as third-party apps (since Apple is not responsible for how they perform/are optimized or not).
