As testosterone lawsuit (http://www.testosteronelawsuitcenter.com/) filings continue to grow in federal court, Bernstein Liebhard LLP notes that advisors for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) have voted overwhelmingly to recommend that prescription medications used to treat low testosterone in men be subjected to further study in order to investigate their cardiovascular risks. According to a report published on September 18th by Bloomberg.com, the panel of outside experts voted 20 to-1 to recommend that the manufacturers of testosterone treatments conduct such studies. Among other things, the advisors noted that current research looking at low testosterone therapy and cardiovascular side effects is inconclusive.*
Hundreds of testosterone lawsuits have been filed in U.S. courts on behalf of men who allegedly suffered heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular problems due to their use of prescription testosterone products. Additional study of this matter would certainly help clarify these potential risks, says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is offering free and confidential case reviews to individuals who allegedly have suffered heart attacks, strokes, dangerous blood clots and other serious heart events due to their use of testosterone treatment therapies.
Prescription testosterone treatments currently approved by the FDA include**:
The FDA has been reviewing the potential cardiovascular risks associated with this class of medications since January, after two studies found a high rate of heart attacks, strokes and death in older men and those with preexisting heart problems who received testosterone therapy.***
Court documents indicate that at least 200 testosterone treatment lawsuits have been filed against the manufacturer of AndroGel, Axiron, Testim and similar medications on behalf of men who allegedly experienced serious heart problems due to their use. The majority of these claims are pending in a federal multidistrict litigation now underway in U.S. District Court, Northern of Illinois.
