Austin Technology Incubator and its Portfolio Companies Surround SXSW; Highlighting DejaSet, RideScout, Rockify, Toopher

The Austin Technology Incubator (ATI), in the IC2 Institute at The University of Texas at Austin (UT), details today its involvement at SXSW, and some of the activities of its portfolio companies.

ATI member company DejaSet was selected to be among the five finalists for the SXSW Austin Startup Fast Pitch competition. DejaSet has a platform to allow musicians to capture high-quality, low-cost audio recordings of their live performances that are then instantly available for purchase and download via their fans mobile devices. Finalist Circle Media, which is building advertising intelligence for live events, is a resident at ATI. Finalist RideScout, which aggregates ground transportation options and feeds them to consumers, is also a member of ATIs portfolio. Finalist AuManil, which builds analytics products for game companies, was founded by former ATI IT and Wireless Director, Bart Bohn. Tenduit Software, which offers a software-only solution for secure server access and control, rounds out the five finalists.

The Austin Startup Fast Pitch (ASFP) Competition,, is presented by ATI and hosted by ATI IT and Wireless Director, Kyle Cox, along with the Central Texas Angel Network, and will be held at the Austin Chamber of Commerce offices, in the downtown Hilton, Saturday, March 9 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. The five finalists will present to a panel of corporate, angel, and venture investor judges in front of the SXSW audience. The ASFP winner will receive free entry into a funding cycle of CTANone of the most active angel investment groups in the USand a 3 month membership into the ATI portfolio, whose members and graduates have raised more than $ 250M over the past 5 years.

The ASFP is one of many Austin Startup activities affiliated with SXSW Startup Village, which includes the much-esteemed SXSW Accelerator, now in its 5th year. This years SXSW Startup Village also includes the Longhorn Startup Showcase, held Sunday, March 10 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the Chamber offices in the Hilton. Presented by the University of Texas and supported by ATI, this fast pitch competition is for UT Austin-based student startups. ATI Director Isaac Barchas will judge the pitches and provide feedback. DejaSet, as one of ATIs growing portfolio of music-tech companies, joins another ATI member company, Rockify, along with Eye In The Sky and Vivogig, to host a Music, Meet Tech party Sunday, March 10 at Bourbon Girl. ATI member company Toopher, with its unique, two-factor authentication security technology created at UT, and its recent $ 2 million investment infusion, continues its roll with Josh Alexander, CEO, speaking on online security, Monday, March 11, at 3:30 pm. Mobile Monday, a networking organization for the wireless technology scene and community partner of ATI, will host its annual Monday night meet-up, March 11th, at 6 pm, at Fogo de Chao. Several Austin mobile startups will be demonstrating. For more: This event is currently sold out.

ATI also congratulates the 10 Austin startups you need to meet at SXSW 2013, as reported by national GigaOm journalist Stacey Higginbotham, March 5: Of the 10, ATI is connected to 4: AuManil founded by former ATI IT and wireless director Bart Bohn; Lynx Labs and RideScout, both ATI development portfolio companies and ATI member company, Toopher. In the past 4 years that GigaOm has compiled the list, ATI-connected companies have comprised 1/3rd of the companies profiled. Former ATI member companies that have made past lists include Calxeda, GameSalad, Ordoro, and WheelInnovationZ.

Former ATI IT and Wireless Director, Bart Bohn, along with ATI alumnus Stacey Zuniga of Unwired Nation, and ATI PR consultant Laura Beck, continue their nightly Entrepreneurs Lounge at Fogo de Chao. Held each night of SXSW Interactive for the past 6 years, the so called Fogo Meat Up has been strongly supported by ATI. There, one can find the ATI team and both current and former ATI member companies, such as Calxeda, Polygraph Media and Spredfastwho actually closed their Series A funding on the roof of Fogo de Chao at the 2010 Meat Up. On Saturday, March 9th, ATI has partnered with Google and Erica Sumner to present a key event on politics and technology. Mitch Jacobson, Co-Director of the Clean Energy Incubator, will moderate a panel featuring four of the most important and influential politicians in the tech space: US Senator Jerry Moran, US Senator Mark Warner, US Senator Chris Coons, and US Representative Darrell Issa. The event will be held at the Capital Factory offices at 701 Brazos St. in downtown Austin.

Lastly, ATI will have a booth at this years Interactive Trade Show.
