Based at Morley College London, Morley Medieval was founded in 1985, in response to requests from students of medieval art for ways of extending the range of their studies. The Society hosts guest lectures in the Autumn and Spring terms by leading scholars on a wide range of research topics. Cultural visits are arranged during the summer months. The Regina Folk Festival presents Winterruption 2015. One of the Queen City’s favourite groups is putting on four shows in three days with some of Canadian music’s bright lights. On Thursday, January 21, they’re presenting the Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer in the Exchange. Shawn Hall and Matthew Rogers make quite the pair, bringing together harmonica, guitar, percussion, and blues vocals to put their own spin on roots music. That spin’s wowed crowds at the Folk Fest and in the Exchange, and their set to do it again. They released their latest album, A Real Fine Mess, in 2014.
Montreal, QC-based singer-songwriter Cécile Doo-Kingué and Saskatchewan folk artist Megan Nash open.
