Because of the form of the movements, every part of the body is worked in proportion. Parkour increases balance, strength, agility, speed and stamina, and improves problem solving, confidence and determination.
It’s the perfect workout, and after trying it, you’ll never be able to go back to a “regular” gym, or even see the world the same way!
If you’ve ever seen the videos on the Internet or in movies like “Casino Royale” and “The Bourne Ultimatum” and thought to yourself, “Wow, I’d like to try that!” well, now’s your chance! You don’t need any special equipment—just workout clothes and some comfortable running shoes to start!
Freerunning is a sister discipline to parkour, with a goal of complete freedom of movement. Freerunning is a way of expressing yourself through your environment through adding “flair” to your movements. Freerunning borrows heavily from gymnastics, martial arts, and parkour to form a hybrid discipline where the free-runner combines the movements to perform acrobatic moves, stylized moves, and visually pleasing stunts, all with his own twist.
The focus of the Freerunning /Street Stunts class at Urban Evolution is on learning the foundations of basic acrobatics, all while slowly conquering the fears and unleashing ones own potential for movement. With plenty of soft crash mats, spotters, and specific instruction, you will not only learn tricks that will make your friends stare in awe when you bust them out, but also develop explosive strength and body awareness that translates into areas of your training.
