ROME, Ga. (PRWEB) April 22, 2013
Government sequestration cuts may have grounded the USN Blue Angels and USAF Thunderbirds that were scheduled at this year’s Wings Over North Georgia air show, but organizers have secured the next best thing, The Black Diamond Jet Demonstration Team. The Black Diamonds are one of the worlds only non-military jet demonstration teams.
The teams inaugural season was in 2011, which saw them become the most talked about performers on the air show circuit and a highly sought-after team for air shows in 2012. They will take flight in the beautiful North Georgia skies at the 2013 Wings Over North Georgia air show, taking place Oct. 12-13 at Romes Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.
While many air shows throughout North America are now jockeying to land one of the few available North American civilian jet teams for their 2013 lineup, the industry-respected Wings Over North Georgia air show venue secured the Black Diamonds.
After ICAS, everyone was so excited to hear we were getting the USAF Thunderbirds in Rome, but after the governments sequestration directive shutting down all military support during the remaining 2013 air show season, having a jet team was paramount. We are thrilled beyond belief to now be hosting the Black Diamonds as our featured jet team, said John Cowman, JLC Air Show Management president.
The Black Diamond Jet Team will be bringing their four ship L-39 aerobatic jet team to Rome this fall. All of the pilots are experienced air show pilots and former members of military jet demonstration teams. Highlighting their arctic camouflage paint scheme, the Lakeland, Fla.-based Black Diamond Jet Team is an exciting addition to the Wings Over North Georgia air show. The formation is led by Flight Leader Jerry Jive Kirby and featuring Dale Snort Snodgrass ripping it up as the lead solo.
Our guests will be exhilarated as the Black Diamond Jet Team delivers 30 minutes of thrilling air show excitement, said Cowman.
The performance features a combination of precision formation acrobatics as well as high-speed, high performance maneuvers performed by the lead solo pilot. At times, all four aircraft come together to demonstrate formation flying at its finest. The Black Diamond Jet Team pilots demonstrate unbelievable skill as they maneuver the aircraft only inches apart from each other.
In addition to the Black Diamond Jet Demonstration Team, attractions and performers at the Wings Over North Georgia air show will also include the Smoke-n-Thunder Jet Car Show & Barbeque Classic, the AeroStars Aerobatic Flight Team, the Lucas Oil Aerobatic and Parachute Demonstration Team, and General Aviation Fly-In. Additional performers and many other family-friendly activities will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Wings Over North Georgia air show is being produced by JLC Air Show Management LLC, which specializes in producing premium air shows and related events. The company is based in Kennesaw, Ga.
