Blekko Review – Search Results For The Intelligent Marketer

WebVideoExplosion.com Blekko has many of the features of Google, but its customizable slashtags, seo data and much more make it a major competitor to Google, making the Behemoth of Search appearing clunky by comparison. As an active internet & video marketer, I love what Blekko can give me in terms of researching markets, both in terms of inbound links, keywords and so on. Blekko adds a whole new layer of intelligence to customizable search, and it’s refreshing to see its svelte and sophisticated interface giving Google a run for its money. I will almost certainly be featuring it in more detail in the video marketing training program, which you can find out more about at http

  1. Hi Jessie – I agree re Blekko not being a “Google killer”…but then, I’d also say that neither is Bweezy….after all, it’s just re-purposing Google’s results in a more friendly manner so you can stay on the Bweezy main page – presumably so there is more opportunity for you to be exposed to any marketing that Bweezy Inc would like you to be exposed to… which is a clever idea 🙂

  2. Blekko is definitely a cool new search engine. The slash tag feature is unique and gives it an edge that people will be interested in. However, It’s not a google killer. I think Google’s greatest strengths is it’s simplicity; it’s so easy anyone can use it to it’s full potential. Blekko is not like that. Bweezy is the BEST new search engine. It offers google results & lets you open search results in the page! Nothing else like it

However, I do not think it will ever reach the popularity of Google due to it’s complicated nature. 4. That’s an interesting observation..is this a sign that the search engine behemoth is sweating because they want to attract a greater proportion of revenue..? After all, we do have a major PPC alternative to the Big G nowadays 😀

  6. Thanks Phil. There are lots of possibilities with Blekko that just aren’t there with Google…for example, the ability to create slashtags is akin to directories… you can see where my thinking is going on this one 🙂

  7. Hi Dez, Okay- just watched the video… thanks for a great heads up on Blekko- it’s always good to know what’s going on and you’re the man to come to!!

  8. Haven’t yet watched the video but I noticed on Thursday/Friday that Google changed the position of the map (in the UK). Totally counter-intuitive for the user BUT it does draw the eye to the sponsored links… Of course, the aha moment- does not help local businesses promote their products and services. Local businesses spend their marketing budget and then Google changes the way they display ads… I was a cub scout so I was prepared but it means my clients have to spend more to stay ahead!

  9. Cheers Robert – Blekko is definitely a search engine for social media mavens.. I **love** the way you can connect with people through the slashtags. You know, although you could argue that there might not be much new about blekko (& you’d be *wrong* if you thought that way IMO), even so, what seems to be the coolest thing about the way blekko works is that it brings together a whole range of different technologies in a very neat, simple yet sophisticated way. Dez.

  10. Build your tribe with slashtags: Get slashtagging! blekko.com/user/dezfutak #slashtag #blekko You can find like-minded searchers by the slashtags you have in common. This potentially brings a whole new dimension to viral social media.
