Speakers: Paul O'DonnellBusiness Editor, The Dallas Morning News Experienced digital and print journalist Paul O’Donnell was named The Dallas Morning News’ business editor in 2015. Prior to his current role, O’Donnell was the editor in chief of the Dallas Business Journal. Before his role at the Dallas Business Journal, O’Donnell worked at The News from 2009 to 2014 before leaving for the Business Journal. He joined The News as an assistant business editor leading coverage of the economy, technology, retailing, the food and hospitality industries, and small business. He later became founding editor of the newspaper’s inaugural iPad app and helped incorporate interactive storytelling on dallasnews.com. Before moving to Dallas, he was business editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. His background also includes reporting and editing roles at other Ohio newspapers, including executive editor of a suburban daily near Cleveland before joining the Plain Dealer. A native of Columbus, Ohio, O’Donnell earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University. He also took post-graduate classes in multimedia journalism at Kent State University, where he co-taught a beat reporting class and received a faculty grant to design a business journalism course. Jason RobersonManaging Editor, Dallas Business Journal Jason Roberson, managing editor of the Dallas Business Journal, has communicated business news from multiple positions throughout his 15-year career. He’s been an award-winning reporter for major daily newspapers, a magazine freelance writer, corporate ghost writer, public relations supervisor, and now, managing editor. In this role, he oversees all day-to-day operations of the Dallas Business Journal’s newsroom. He directs all coverage in the DBJ’s print and online editions. Prior to joining the publication, Roberson worked for FleishmanHillard public relations firm. He led and assisted on communications for multiple clients, including AT&T, USAA and Texas Oncology. Before joining the agency, Roberson was an award-winning business reporter for magazines and newspapers across the country. At the Dayton Daily News, he wrote about retail, housing and economic trends. At the Detroit Free Press, he wrote about labor and automotive manufacturers. At The Dallas Morning News, he wrote about the business of healthcare at the intersection of poverty, politics and immigration. Dalila ThomasProducer/Writer, KDAF-TV Dalila Thomas is a Food Writer/Host/News Producer at CW33 in Dallas. Thomas graduated from Austin Peay State University with a BA and MA in Corp. Communications, and a Broadcast Media minor. Thomas has written and produced for KNOE-CBS in Monroe, LA, and spent time at The Dallas Morning News. In addition to CW33, Thomas is the founder of the food blog Starvingonabudget.com, and freelances for Essence Magazine.
