BWA February 26, 2013: Search Engine Optimization for Writers
Event on 2013-02-26 17:45:00

You'd be hard-pressed to avoid the term Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in today's online marketing. It has become a critical component of business on the Web. But how does SEO work and what do writers need to know about it? The February 26th BWA program will tackle this complex subject specifically from the writer's perspective.

Our presenter Marcus Jeffery owns Denver Web Success and has built a flourishing career by helping businesses achieve their online marketing goals with SEO. This program is for anyone involved with blogs, blog commenting, articles, press releases, and other writer-centric tasks, as well as Web developers.

The biggest factor in Website ranking is link popularity – the quantity, quality, and diversity of the inbound links to a Website. Marcus will discuss the writer's role in generating these links. Marcus also will cover:

  • How Search Engines Work – Search engines assess 200+ ranking factors, including on-page SEO, on-site SEO, and off-site SEM (Search Engine Marketing). Learn what search engines look for, and why.
  • How to Build a Successful Website – Once you understand how a search engine works, you can apply this knowledge to a tried-and-true process for building a Website that gets results.
  • Alternatives to SEO – If goals cannot be reached with standard SEO techniques, there are alternatives, including pay-per-click, social media, affiliate schemes, etc.
  • Do You Need a Website? – The answer may be no. Learn how to assess the online market demand and the strength of your competitors to determine the most profitable way to succeed.
