London Selenium Bootcamp 17-18 Jun – 2 day Intensive Practical Workshop

London Selenium Bootcamp 17-18 Jun – 2 day Intensive Practical Workshop
Event on 2013-06-17 09:00:00

This two day workshop will lead you through the essentials of using Selenium WebDriver with Java. Over the course of the workshop we will write automated tests against a live open source application. This way you experience what it is like to write tests against a real application. We will also refactor the tests to use page objects and abstraction layers. By doing this we will approach the automation of the application as though we were writing tests for a production application. Technologies we will use on the course are Java 1.7, IntelliJ, JUnit, Hamcrest, Selenium WebDriver (we will use the current version at the time of running the course), Firefox, Google Chrome

The basic syllabus for the course:

  • Selenium 2 WebDriver API
  • Using WebDriver to navigate web applications
  • Basic web Element identification using id, name and
  • Locating web elements using CSS and XPath
  • Use of Chrome Developer tools and Firebug
  • WebDriver commands to Interrogate WebElements and pages
  • JUnit annotations to structure test code
  • HamCrest commands for test assertions
  • WebDriver commands for Interaction and Manipulation
  • Using JavaScript in your tests
  • Handling Alerts
  • Working with Cookies
  • Synchronisation strategies
  • Implicit vs Explicit Waits
  • Explicit waits using ExpectedConditions
  • Explicit waits using custom expected conditions
  • Refactoring to Abstraction layers, Page Object Models and Domain Objects
  • Page Object Modelling Approaches
  • Running tests on multiple browsers: Firefox, Google Chrome
  • Using Remote WebDriver

The workshop will consist of demonstrations, hands on exercises, lecture segments and discussion retrospectives. This keeps the course interactive and utilises multiple learning styles to increase the memory retention of the material.

Avanquest Introduced Recommendations on Types of Software to Open ISU, JAR, OUT, and PAF Files

(PRWEB) March 02, 2013

File extension ISU, JAR, OUT, and PAF are associated with a variety of different file types one of which is an executable file. Considering the fact that such files contain codes and scripts for the execution of different programs and applications and that they can also be a prime target by hackers for storing malicious software, Avanquest recently published the recommendations on how to open ISU, JAR, OUT, and PAF files in a more secure manner.

File extension ISU is an executable file type which is part of the InstallShield software application. ISU files contain code which assists with uninstalling programs and applications from a PC or other device.

File extension JAR is used to execute Java programs which are run by the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). JAR files contain libraries and application resources in a compressed file format which are accessed on a device which has JRE installed.

File extension OUT is an executable file type which is used with the Linux operating system. OUT files are created using s source code compiler and store codes and libraries which are used with various programs and applications for Linux.

File extension PAF is used to store executable files which are used with portable applications. The portable applications are mini versions of the full sized application and can include a web browser, office suite applications, compression utility programs, games, and other applications which can be used for mobile devices.

File Extension ISU, JAR, OUT, and PAF Software

Executable files play an important role in launching programs and applications which mean the files should be opened using the program they are associated with or by the developer application which created the executable file. This provides added security which protects a device from inadvertent malicious software installations. That said the following software applications can be used to open file extension ISU, JAR, OUT, or PAF:

InstallShield: Flexera InstallShield is a software application which provides tools for developers that help to build InstallScript and Windows Installer applications. InstallShield will open file extension ISU and is available as a trial on the Flexera Software website. InstallShield is designed to be used with the Windows operating system.

JRE: Oracle Java Runtime Environment is a software application which can be downloaded on a device to provide interactive components that allow users to play games, use chat applications, and view three dimensional images and product demonstrations, plus much more. JRE will open file extension JAR and is available as an unpaid download on the Java website. Java Runtime Environment is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system.

WinZip: Corel WinZip is a compression utility application that will open and extract compressed file archives including file extension JAR. Windows users should use the 16.5 version of WinZip. Mac OS X users can use WinZip Mac Edition 2. Both applications are available in a trial version on the WinZip website.

Any Web Browser: File extension JAR can be opened using any web browser software application such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, and others. JAR files can also be opened using the Mozilla Thunderbird email client and Mozilla SeaMonkey Internet suite of applications. All applications are available for download on their respective websites and compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system.

Any Text Editor: File extension OUT is a source code file which is in plain text format and can be opened using any text editing application. Windows users can open file extension OUT using WordPad, Notepad, TextPad, or Microsoft Word. For Mac OS X, OUT source code files can be opened using Apple TextEdit, MacroMates TextMate, BareBones TextEdit, or MacVim. For the Linux operating system, file extension OUT can be opened using AbiWord, gEdit, GNU Emacs, Nano Editor, or Vim.

Linux: The Linux operating system can be used to open file extension OUT since the file is an executable which works with Linux programs and applications.

PortableApps: File extension PAF can be opened using the PortableApps platform which provides a way to build a personal suite of portable software. PortableApps is available on the PortableApps.com website and is loaded onto a flash drive. The PAF installation files for each portable app are then launched from the USB flash storage device. The apps can include web browsers, office suites, game managers, email applications, PDF readers, and more. PortableApps PAF files can be opened by connecting a USB flash drive to a portable device and then clicking the PAF file to launch a specific application.

These are a few of the software applications recommended by Avanquest to open file extension ISU, JAR, OUT, and PAF. Further information in the file extension database reveals additional applications which can be used to open these file extensions.

Avanquest Introduced Recommendations on Types of Software to Open MAP, PHP, PRO, and RSS Files

(PRWEB) March 04, 2013

File extension MAP, PHP, PRO, and RSS are associated with a variety of different file types one of which is a web file. Considering the fact that many web file types are viewable from the server side but the contents are never seen by the end user and instead are viewed using a web browser, Avanquest recently published the recommendations on the main types of software to open MAP, PHP, PRO, and RSS files.

File extension MAP is a web file type which contains text on the server side which provides links to other locations on the web. When the user clicks on a website image, the text on the server defines the location and the page where the user lands after clicking.

File extension PHP contains source code which helps to create interactive elements on a website such as online forms and access information which is stored in a database. The source code uses a PHP engine which is located on a web server. Once the source code is processed on the server it is sent to the users web browser when they access a web page. The end user never sees the source code and instead sees the end result via a web browser.

File extension PRO is a web file type which is designed for use with mobile devices. PRO files are generated by Adobe Proto touch app which creates multiple page layouts and interactive elements which can be viewed using a variety of different web browsing applications.

File extension RSS works with online syndications which are used with an RSS feed. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a code and script file type that contains coding and scripts in XML (Extensible Markup Language) format. XML format is used to create feed readers for RSS news feeds on the web. RSS is a standard which is used for sharing news and other content on a website via a subscription process.

File Extension MAP, PHP, PRO, and RSS Software

The contents of web file types are most commonly viewed using software applications which created the file or are at least compatible with the file. Developer software applications can view the contents of a web file type on the server side of things. Users browsing the web commonly view the end result of the file contents by using a web browser. That said here are some of the software applications which can assist with opening file extension MAP, PHP, PRO, or RSS.

Any Web Browser: File extension MAP, PHP, PRO, and RSS can be viewed using any web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and others. The contents of each file extension cannot be viewed using this method however; the end result such as interactivity is experienced by the end user using any web browser installed on any operating system such as Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Linux, and UNIX.

Any Text Editor: File extension MAP and file extension PHP are in plain text format which means they can be opened using any text editing application. Windows users can open these file extensions using WordPad, Notepad, or TextPad. For Mac OS X, file extension MAP and PHP can be opened using Apple TextEdit, MacroMates TextMate, or MacVim. For the Linux operating system, AbiWord, gEdit, GNU Emacs, Nano Editor, or Vim can be used to open file extension MAP and file extension PHP.

Apache Web Server: File extension PHP can be opened using Apache Web Server which is an open source web server capable of providing interactive web services for website owners. Apache Web Server is a project by the Apache Software Foundation and is available on the Apace.org website. Apache Web Server is designed to be used with Windows, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system.

Dreamweaver CS6: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 is part of the Adobe CS6 Creative Suite of applications. The application provides a comprehensive set of tools and functions for creating dynamic web page elements and will open file extension PHP. Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 is available in a trial version on the Adobe website and is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X.

Adobe Proto: File extension PRO can be opened using Adobe Proto which is a Touch App designed for use with iOS and Android. Adobe Proto provides a set of tools for accomplishing creative tasks on the iPhone, iPad, or Android devices and is available for download on the Adobe website.

BottomFeeder: File extension RSS can be opened using Cincom Smalltalk BottomFeeder which is a news aggregator client that is capable of handling news feed subscriptions. BottomFeeder 4.6 is available on the Cincom Smalltalk website and is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system.

Eclipse PHP Development: File extension PHP can be opened using Eclipse PHP Development Tools which is an open source developer application used to create interactive web applications. Eclipse PHP Development Tools are produced by the Eclipse Foundation and are available as an unpaid download on the Eclipse.org website. Eclipse PHP is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system.

These are a few of the software applications recommended by Avanquest to open file extension MAP, PHP, PRO, and RSS. Further research on the topic will reveal additional applications which will open these file extensions as well.
