So Long Couch Potatoes: TV Viewers More Active than Ever According to Research at Upcoming NATPE Mobile++ Event

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) November 29, 2006

TV viewers are leaving their couches in favour of a more active, multi-platform experience, according to research that will be unveiled at NATPE Mobile++ a digital media event that takes place January 15, 2007 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.

Highlights from the day-long program include “Confessions of Digital Media Consumption,” presented by Lori H. Schwartz, Senior Vice President, and Director of Emerging Media, The Interpublic Emerging Media Lab. The company uses the latest technology with a think tank-oriented environment to identify and forecast how people are currently consuming digital media content.

“TV viewers are on the move,” explains Mark Greenspan, Achilles Media’s Director of Digital Media and Executive Producer of the NATPE Mobile++ event, “They are watching TV, using the internet and interacting with their mobile phones simultaneously.”

These findings have enormous significance for the content producers and distributors who are trying to find a way to profit from the fast-changing media environment.

NATPE Mobile++ will also present “American Idol – A Case Study,” a look at the widely successful America Idol franchise and how it integrated audience members into the creation of the show via mobile phone. Fremantle Media’s Vice President, Integrated Marketing and Interactive, Keith Hindle will explore how the company’s initiatives with America Idol led the way with adapting the multi-platform model and participatory TV.

NATPE Mobile++ is produced by Achilles Media Ltd. Achilles Media Ltd. is the management organization for the Banff World Television Festival (June 10-13, 2007), and also manages the World Congress of History Producers (November 2007) and nextMEDIA — The Future of Digital Content (June 8-10, 2007).
