SEO Positive Respond to eBays Research on Google PPC

(PRWEB UK) 14 March 2013

eBay have reviewed the effectiveness of Googles PPC for leading ecommerce brands, raising questions about the value of ads bought on Google from the global auction site.

The report, carried out by eBays research team, found that revenue from paid search was smaller than expected because existing customers could have come to eBay regardless, either directly or through other marketing channels.

The research team analysed eBay sales between April and July 2012 after halting purchases of some Google search ads, while keeping ads going in some regions, then comparing results from two different approaches. eBay said they found no appreciable drop in sales from ebay listings in parts of the country where ad purchases were switched off.

They estimated that PPC ads brought in around 25 cents in extra revenue for each $ 1 spent. However the study noted that paid search may work better for other companies.

Ben Austin, Managing Director at SEO Positive, has responded to the data with interest:

This research questions the effectiveness of PPC for ecommerce global giants who have a huge following. It seems understandable that customers would usually visit the site directly instead when it comes to sites such as eBay and Amazon. However for SMEs, paid search remains an effective way of attracting customers for your industry. Without the global scope of brands such as eBay, it can be difficult to attract regular customers to your business.

Provides Guidelines for Optimising Business Websites for Facebook’s New Graph Search

Melbourne, VIC (PRWEB) March 22, 2013

The Facebook Graph Search is the new search tool revealed by the social networking giant earlier in January this year. The tool allows Facebook users to put together short search phrases (such as “books my friends like”) and it will send up results after looking through the social network’s organised data (names of people, friends, likes, photo tags, locations, and such, but not comments or status updates). This new way of searching for information can prove to be beneficial for businesses seeking to improve their visibility online, and FB Ads Lab, a leading Melbourne-based ad agency specialising in Facebook pay per click (PPC) ads, offers tips that can help businesses get their websites easily spotted by the new Facebook feature.

“Just like SEO, Facebook Graph Search Optimization utilises a number of factors to determine your Facebook pages relevance for a particular user,” explains Jennifer Sheahan, founder and CEO of FB Ads Lab. “In plain English, this means you never know exactly what (the people behind) Facebook are thinking, or how they are going to determine who reaches the top of the list. But there are a few things you can do to ensure you have a fighting chance.”

Optimising a business website’s pages to attain maximum visibility with the Facebook Graph Search tool can be done with a number of simple tweaks on existing settings. Here are Sheahan’s ten tips on giving Web pages that decided edge over the competition.

1. Claim the page name. A short and simple page name that uses a company’s business name and/or location would be a perfect choice.

2. Choose the right category. Selecting the correct main category and sub-categories for a business can help Web users find the pages faster.

3. Do extensive research. The most relevant keywords for a business can be found from Google Analytics, Google AdWords campaigns, and SEO campaigns. FB Ad Labs can help site owners find the best keywords for their specific business.

4. Provide detailed information. Use the “About,” “Mission,” and “Company Description” sections of the Facebook profile to share as much accurate and attractive information about the business as possible; strong keywords and clickable URLs can give the best results.

5. Make use of relevant apps. Apps come in all forms (menus, newsletters, surveys, e-books, contests, etc.) and make it much easier for Web users to find a company’s content.

6. Maximise the use of available Facebook Tabs. Custom tabs can be created on the space below a Facebook Timeline image to act as landing pages (or a mini-website) within Facebook.

7. Develop a personal posting style. As with any blog, website, or social networking account, developing a unique yet engaging voice can help Web users better recognise and relate to a brand. Aim to inform, entertain, and provide useful content.

8. Encourage sharing activity. Content such as articles, photos and videos (subtly branded with the company name or URL) can be easily shared among users and across online platforms, increasing the opportunities to improve visibility.

9. Start and cultivate conversations. It’s not enough to simply put out regular posts; communicate with target audiences by replying to comments, answering questions, and inviting users to try out contests or promotions. Always be fair and honest when speaking to new, existing, and potential customers.

10. Tag away. Make sure to tag photos with the business name and include its location and description whenever possible. This increases the chances for more people to discover the company and what it has to offer whenever anyone is searching for a business of a similar nature.

With competitors constantly searching for ways to gain an advantage over other ventures, it helps to identify the different marketing tools available such as Facebook’s new Graph Search and explore every Facebook page optimization feature it possesses that can prove to be beneficial in the evolving online business scene. Internet Marketing Agency Highlights Its Newest Google Certified Employees

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 15, 2013

Ajax Union, available online at, is currently spotlighting its Google Certified employees. The Brooklyn-based internet marketing agency now boasts 21 certified employees with five new employees passing the rigorous tests and has helped companies from a wide range of industries, from incontinence supplies retailers to VoIP providers, utilize Pay-Per-Click ad campaigns and other online marketing techniques to increase revenue, cut advertising costs, and improve their overall bottom line.

Our official Google AdWords Certification just confirms what our clients already know – that we are extremely good at what we do. We have employees that are individually certified in all three of Googles categories and many of our staff members have received multiple achievements as well. We even have individually certified employees in other departments besides Pay-Per-Click (PPC) to ensure that all our employees are knowledgeable about our offerings and that our customers will receive service from a qualified and well-rounded professional that is an expert in all things related to online marketing, said Ron Tsantker, PPC Director at the Brooklyn, NY SEO company.

To qualify as a Google AdWords partner, internet marketing agencies need to demonstrate their proficiency with Pay-Per-Click marketing campaigns by managing at least $ 10,000 worth of ads over a 90-day period. With Ajax Unions extensive list of clients and the large volume of PPC ad spend it manages, the company meets this benchmark and exceeds it on a consistent basis.

Google also requires its AdWords Partners to have at least one individually certified employee on staff. Ajax Union is well above par in this area as well, with more than 20 staff members that meet this qualification. The employees themselves also uphold the internet marketing agencys commitment to going above and beyond the basic requirements, with many of them achieving Google AdWords Certification in more than one of the three categories.

In addition to Pay-Per-Click advertising, Ajax Union offers online marketing plans for reputation management, search engine optimization, keyword tracking, and social media marketing. Its emphasis on flexibility and month-to-month contracts ensure that every small business can receive the services they need at a reasonable price.

The SEO company has been recognized by Google as a Certified AdWords Partner and by Inc. 500 as one of 2012s fastest growing private companies. More information about Ajax Union can be found on the company website as well as its Facebook and Twitter profiles, and the agencys experienced staff members can be contacted by dialing 1-800-594-0444.

SEO Positive Responds to Google Changing Rules on Phone Numbers in Advertisement Text

(PRWEB UK) 17 April 2013

Google has altered its Adwords rules to ban phone numbers in ad text, instead requiring businesses to use a call extension feature instead.

Businesses can no longer use phone numbers in advertisement text and will now have to use the call extension feature if they wish to include a number within their ad text.

Google explained, Call extensions (also known as click-to-call on mobile devices) allow you to add a phone number to your ad, making it easy for customers to call you directly. Call extensions also provide you with detailed reporting on the calls you receive from your ads.

All PPC ads will now have to be changed if they include a phone number or risk no longer running. Google stated, Phone numbers and vanity phone numbers cant be used anywhere in ad text or in a site links extension because doing so is confusing to users who might be expecting to be led to a call session as opposed to a website. To let customers call you directly from your ad, use call extensions instead.

Ben Austin, Managing Director at SEO Positive, has responded to the data with interest:

This will be a frustrating change for many businesses, but is another quality control measure by Google. By making the most of call extensions, businesses could find an increase in phone enquiries and orders and could be especially useful for service industries.

SEO Positive was established in 2007 in Chelmsford, Essex with the aim of bringing effective yet affordable online marketing services to companies from all industries and backgrounds.
