Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) October 05, 2012
On October 27, 2012, non-profit organization, CelebrateLife08 will host a two part event: A community health fair and a celebration of life fundraiser, The Chocolate Rose Ball. Both events will raise money for free mammogram screenings and follow-up support for medically underinsured and uninsured women. For every $ 5,000 raised, Celebrate Life can help 30 women receive free mammogram screenings and follow-up support. This event brings awareness to women in the African-American and Hispanic community who probably would never get one on one education regarding the importance of early detection of breast cancer, says founder, Jeannette Gregory.
The days activities will kick off with a Short Walk led by local retired NFL Players Don Sasa and Purcell Gaskins. Don played for the San Diego Chargers, Washington Redskins, Carolina Panthers and Detroit Lions. Purcell Gaskins played for the Saint Louis Rams and Carolina Panthers.
The Health Fair will offer free health care screenings to include blood pressure checks and provide informative workshops about breast cancer, diabetes, prostate cancer and nutrition. Workshops will be translated for Spanish speaking participants.
