Charlie Chaplin’s Great Dictator’s Final Speech – (Oct.1940)

Read this text carefully without making any juzment in a hurry! Just read and think! Then, read what is says at the end of the speech transcript! •¤**¤•.¸.•¤**¤•..•¤ **¤ •.¸.•¤**¤•.. “Speak – it is our only hope” “Hope – I’m sorry but I don’t want to be an Emperor – that’s not my business – I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that. We all want to live by each other’s happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men’s souls – has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The airplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world

  2. Jillian Ramos says:

  3. bvnvcbncvb says:

The British and American elite would have accepted nazi germany if hitler had not messed up the banking system that removed the german federal reserve for the use of private banks and diverted it to military and the people. Stalin was more terrible than Hitler but he didnt mess with the money system and was thus less of a threat to the financial elite.

  4. Jack Wolf says:

After 5:01, I straight out started crying.

  5. esuleiman says:

One of the greatest speeches I’ve ever seen by a man most famous for silent films.

  6. Edwin North says:

lol that comment no longer exists. not sorry I missed it from what I can glean

  7. FlakeTillman says:

The greed of corrupt Men and Women stamps freedom out to this day. We shall all be united like bricks on a street, to be trampled on by the iron heel of those who control the government, the media, the economy, and ultimately us. And Just as we let them, all these terrible things shall return.

3:35 starts to get Empowering !

  9. trekgeek1 says:

He’d probably be very happy. This was during WWII. We are no longer in a global war, the poorest of nations are slowly getting richer, life expectancy has increased, and despite what the 24 hour news channels report, war and conflict is continuously declining worldwide. Things are actually much better than the doom and gloom media reports suggest. They do so because conflict is exciting and peace is the absence of conflict. Finally, the internet has given us all the chance to begin to unite.

  10. Steve Brule says:

I seriously have no idea how anyone could ever dislike this. Genius.

  11. james80196 says:

If only he saw what humanity looked like now a days :/

  12. Reagan Stark says:

thank you! someone gets it. it’s nothing to do with the government or politics and everything to do with people in general and how we need to check ourselves and our actions.

  13. Jack102589 says:

This speech isn’t about politics. It’s about being led by your heart and by love, rather than by hate, greed, or fear. If each person did this, be they executive or soldier or politician, our world could be united, people fed, educated, and given the opportunity to live a rich and full life.

  14. treocin says:

yet declaring war means nothing, 1941 Slovakia declared war on USA. Which was at that under German protectorate regime by Germany but Russia invaded Poland actually after the was was already declared. between Germany and Britain and France. Poland had choice to give free corridor for Russian Troops early in 39 but they refused, with others as well. So Russians formed the pack with Germans but that was supposed to be no aggression pack between those 2

  15. treocin says:

but alongside with Britain and France there were other countries declaring the war on Germany. All in the control of either France and Britain. India, New Zealand, later Canada, South Africa, Netherlands etc.

  16. treocin says:

attacked Russia. The ignorance from France and Britain by not supporting Czechoslovakia was just a completely misstep. Czechoslovakia had very good army but couldn’t do it alone, Germany, which was demilitarized after first war was slowly coming back and all it took was to create strong bases in Czechoslovakia and Poland. Kinda the same way. Interestingly enough those 3 countries didn’t want to have the war on their territory and yet biggest battles were fought there. London, Norm. Stalingrad

  17. treocin says:

You asked why Britain and France declared war on Germany? I would say that’s a wrong question. See it all started already in 38 when Britain, Russia, Czechoslovakia and France had an agreement that if any of those 3 countries. would be under attack, remaining 3 would help. Well, not so after Munich Pact where basically Czechoslovakia was left alone. Chamberlain was blind, even Churchill said that in his memoirs. The non fight treaty between Soviets and Germany lasted 2 years, when Hitler

  18. ITzMlgHydro says:

they are prominent because they have been conditioned into people as i have said; there is no such thing as human nature, only human behavior. genetics cannot be understood outside the context of environment. To change human behavior, you change the environment that humans have to live in. if you have and environment that is caring, sustainable with values of empathy and such you have human being with such characteristics.

  19. Benjamin Thomas says:

That’s true! If we can get rid of greed and helplessness, then we can live in peace! … Good luck getting rid of two of the most prominent traits in humans.

  20. qwasd0r says:

More than 70 years later - no change. Only today, it’s called “government”.

  21. Brian Davis says:

Awesome speech, am i being censored? . Why do I think that only the negatives of what I preach is being put out there. Or things I say are taking waaaay out of context as to discredit me. NON-STOP-SMEAR-CAMPAIGN!!
