Capital Area Michigan Works! and the Capital Healthcare and Employment Council (CHEC)  invite you to the Building Healthy Teams conference, the final event for CHEC.  

The Building Healthy Teams conference is a final opportunity to network with fellow council members and take advantage of an excellent day of top-notch professional development. This event will include general and breakout sessions, and it will conclude with a cocktail hour and prizes. Lunch will be provided.

Keynote speakers Tom Anastos, head coach of the Michigan State Hockey program, and Dr. William Donohue, Distinguished Professor of Communication for Michigan State University will share with members practical advice and information to help each organization build healthy teams. 

The Building Healthy Teams conference will utilize the remaining CHEC training and networking funds.

Developing a Championship Culture

Tom Anastos, MSU Hockey Coach

CCHA Commissioner Tom Anastos was a non-conventional hire when he was

introduced as the head coach of the MSU Hockey team in March 2011. He

utilized not only his experience as a former coach and student athlete at MSU,

but also his business acumen and savvy as he immediately went to work to

re-establish a “Championship Culture” – one that stressed accountability,

commitment, and attention to detail among its key principles within and around

the program. Learn what key principles Anastos brought back to his alma mater

to change the culture of the hockey program.

Explore how having a balanced, well rounded life will help increase your

longevity and wellness. From engaging in a regular fitness program and

choosing healthy foods to proper stress reduction and having a healthy

workplace, this session will help to increase your overall happiness by

implementing a few simple tips and tricks.


Social Media – A Study of What’s Next

Derek Mehraban, CEO of Ingenex Digital Marketing & Digital Marketing

This session will cover the social networks you need to be aware of in 2014, how

secure are your networks for your children, and tools to get the most out of

your social media.

Bob Hoffman, Manager of Public Relations, Wharton Center at MSU

The Secret to Setting, Keeping and Achieving Your Goals is simple but there are

a few principals that can save you a lot of time and work. Bob will share some

ideas that will help keep you focused and moving forward to achieving the

results you want, even if outside factors seem to prevent you from achieving

your heart’s desire.

Card Talk: Winning Communication Games

Dr. Bill Donohue, Professor of Communication, MSU

Have you ever marveled at how some people can easily switch from one

card to the next when they’re communicating? One minute the leader is

explaining something technical and then immediately switches to a “Friend

Card” to discuss something personal. Then the leader takes a call and

switches effortlessly to a “Mom Card.” The purpose of this session is to

expose the secrets of this Card Talk so that everyone has the keys to effective

communication in both professional and personal settings. Are you ready?
