City Bike Manufacturer Linus Bike Responds to Proposed Biking and Hiking Trails in Downtown Cincinnati

On September 28th, Linus Bike, a city bike manufacturer, comments on an article published for regarding the transformation of a downtown riverfront into a biking and hiking wonderland which had previously been dedicated to industrial zoning.

According to, 95 percent of downtown Cincinnatis 17 mile stretch of riverfront is currently zoned for industry. However, since 1948, 50 percent of the area intended for industry has gone unused. Today, plans are in the works to transform the area, giving parks, hiking trails and biking trails a home along the river. The article reports, Plans for the Western Riverwalk were announced at a monthly meeting of Queen City Bike, a cycling advocacy group, on Monday, September 10 at the Hofbrauhaus in Newport. Frank Henson, president of Queen City Bike, introduced Dave Zelman of the River West Working Group, who presented information about plans for the western bike/hike corridor. According to the trail has been planned since 2010, in an effort to make the riverfront area more user friendly.

The plan, According to, will occur in phases, the first of which will create a circular loop around the Gilday Recreation Center, which is currently home to a boat ramp and baseball fields. In addition, the trail is planned to continue through various proposed parks.
