This CMJ Season, Rioux and Heard Entertainment premiere 'CONNECT: Explorations in Electronic Psychedelia'. The event will showcase the best and brightest American electronic/psychedelic musicians making work today.
"I wanted to curate an event that could centralize and unite a significant artistic movement that is on the rise", says Rioux. "I couldn't think of a better home for this event's premiere than Le Poisson Rouge."
The following artists have been selected for their stunning sonic dialogs between pop and the avant-garde. Additionally, these artists demonstrate a dedication to bringing an organic sound palette into the realm of electronic production and performance.
Say hello to the sound of 2012 and CONNECT at Le Poisson Rouge on Thursday October 18th. We all know we want the chance to say: "I was there…"

CONNECT: Explorations in Electronic Psychedelia (Official CMJ Showcase)
Rioux is the musical project of electronic producer, Erin Rioux (pronounced ree-yoo). Rioux's ornate, psychedelic productions make use of organic instrumentation and a left-of-center pop sensibility.
Originally from Detroit, Rioux spent months living in Berlin and recording his latest, Come On All You Ghosts. The result is an unusually touching digital pop record steeped in nightlife, Krautrock, psychedelia, and the starkly contrasting energies of the dancefloor. In June, Rioux premiered his debut single "Find the Reason" (feat. Thurmon Green) on Prefix Mag. In July, he followed up the EP with Water Signs, a free mixtape available from his website. Rioux will cap off a busy year with a collaboration from astrophysicist/jazz musician Stephon Alexander, exploring the intersection between free jazz and quantum mechanics.
"Cerebral yet accessible, …Rioux crafts elaborate, dream-like productions with organic instrumentation."
-The Creator's Project
"Rioux's productions have embraceable healing power."
AIMES is the production moniker and musical alter ego of Alabama born, Brooklyn resident, Aman Ellis. Aman entered into the world of electronic music almost by mistake. After years of searching for his sound on the guitar, many of which involved him trying to make his guitar sound like a synthesizer, he opted to trade the two. Now armed with a plethora of gadgets and toys, Aman spends his time bridging the divide between the organic tones of his past and the lush oscillations in his present.
His adventuresome style of synth-wave space pop explores vast sonic territories, keeping a close affinity to other-worldly psychedelia and interstellar weirdness.
Heathered Pearls is the alias of Jakub Alexander, music curator of the IS050 Blog, and founder of Moodgadget Records. Jakub has been DJing over a decade sharing residencies early on with globally recognized DJs Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliott in Ann Arbor, MI then moved on to Brooklyn to play along side slow motion disco duo Worst Friends.
Jakub is known to share that crowd pleasing hypnotic end of rhythmic day time disco, synth induced melodic electronic and swell filled post rock but always comes back to disco.
The Heathered Pearls project isn’t only a DJ alias, in 2011 Ghostly International’s GMS aka drip.fm released Polite Isle which is the debut LP from Jakub which includes 3 EP’s done in 2011 along with a couple singles combined into one release.
In recent years he’s played at the MoMA in Manhattan, held an exciting weekly at Brooklyn Bowl called “Soon To Be Innocent Fun” and shares the bill with many musicians at The Glasslands and Cameo Gallery.
