Connected Business Workshops – Sell, sell, sell: Marketing your business effectively online
Following on from September's Connected Business conference and ahead of 2014's event, Barnsley companies are invited to attend a digital business workshop to help you use the web to make your business more effective and successful. This event is the third in a series of four and you can attend as many as you like.

[endif]–>This workshop will cover how to use the internet to better market your business. We’ll cover writing search engine friendly content and an overview of how search engines work and what they’re looking for, finding places to appropriately market your business, and using social media and blogging to market your business.
The workshop will be delivered by Craig Burgess of Genius Division.
Thursday March 20th, 9.30am – 12.30pm at Barnsley Digital Media Centre. Refreshments provided.
It's easy to drown in the world of online advertising. It appears in your mailbox, on every website and even when you don't think you are being sold to – you probably still are. This workshop will help you to:
- Understand the role of marketing on the web
- Get to grips with what search engines look for and how to make your site appealing
- Work out the right places for your business to market and advertise
- Find your customers in the social media world, and work out how to market yourself socially
- Learn about some cool and low cost tools to help you manage this

Craig Burgess, Genius Division
Craig spends most of his life as Creative Director for Genius Division, a digital marketing agency that specialises in solutions for businesses that uses digital technology such as mobile phone apps, responsive websites, email marketing and search engine marketing. Outside of Genius Division, he is a part-time lecturer on Wakefield College's highly commended FdA in Web Design course where he teaches web design fundamentals and WordPress and the technology guru on a local radio show.

This workshop will cover how to make sure you’re safe legally when producing content online, and what to do with copyright or legal disputes. We’ll also cover how you can manage what others are saying about you.
