This workshop focuses on creating an exceptional presentation of your artwork – one that is striking enough to get attention, inspiring enough to be remembered, and easy to tailor to different galleries or markets.  We'll review different formats and the essential content needed to create a compelling portfolio presentation – photographs of artwork; info on works of art; an artist resume; an artist statement and bio.  Flipping the coin, we'll take a brief look at what galleries are looking for, so artists will have a better understanding of gallery protocol and expectations when reviewing work by unsolicited artists.  These principles can also be applied to artist websites, and we will discuss the pros and cons of both hard copy and digital formats. Please bring five (5) photographs of recent work, a hard copy of a current artist statement and resume (if you have them), a notebook and all the questions you can carry. (These materials are not for review by the workshop leader, but are to be used for reference during the workshop.)

THE INSTRUCTOR:  Terri Sisson founded LOOK in 2006, after working as a gallery director and consultant in the art field for over fifteen years. LOOK is a career advisory and public relations firm developed with the needs of contemporary artists in mind. The mission is to help artists achieve their goals as they cultivate positive and profitable alliances in the world. LOOK acts as an agent, coach and advisor, assisting clients with the knowledge and insight of experienced art professionals. Terri is a persuasive advocate for the arts, and works in collaboration with clients to creatively present and promote individual artists, exhibitions or the unique identity of a gallery seeking a larger audience. She has extensive management and public relations experience that she uses to thoughtfully guide her clients. Terri graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan, majoring in fine art. She interned with the British photographer Ken Baird on a Guggenheim Fellowship project, and spent several years working professionally in photography and film before she began writing and consulting for galleries in New York.
