Creighton University Hosts First Summer Leadership Institute Event Focusing on Women in Higher Education

Creighton University today announced their first-ever summer Leadership Institute Conference in higher education entitled, Emerging, Aspiring and Refining Women Leaders. Set for July 17-19, 2013, the two-and-a-half day conference offers a unique interdisciplinary view of leadership that is applicable across a range of institutions.

Hosted within Creightons Harper Center, university presidents, board members, nationally acclaimed experts in higher education and leadership experts from across the country will convene to discuss topics including career, social interactions, finances, physical health and strong communities. This is a groundbreaking event, said Isabelle D. Cherney, Ph.D., associate dean of the Graduate School and University College. Participants have the opportunity to meet with renowned panel experts to discuss the challenges in higher education, engage in small group seminars and participate in planning sessions. Its a tremendous opportunity for anyone interested in growing as an educator and a leader.

Conference sessions are based on the Gallup book Well Being: The Five Essential Elements by Tom Rath and Jim Harter, and highlight the five essential elements that lead to improved lives. A copy of Rath and Harters book is included in the registration fee. Attendees will complete the Gallup Well Being Inventory and the Harvard School of Business Developmental Network Questionnaire in advance of the conference to be able to fully participate in the interpretation and exercises associated with the inventory and questionnaire.

Creightons Online Doctor of Education in Leadership

Many participants in this event might be enrolled in or have interest in Creightons online Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership. The Ed.D. in Leadership builds on the University’s Jesuit, Catholic tradition of social justice, self-reflection and service to create leaders with the vision, commitment, and know-how to become agents of transformational change.

Taught by Creighton faculty from the fields of arts and sciences, business, pharmacy and health professions, medicine and law, the online Ed.D. in Leadership offers a unique interdisciplinary view of the field that is applicable across a range of industries, especially business, education and health care.
