Our monthly Digital Marketing [DM] Insights is organized by Lithan Academy, at Red Dot Ventures (Launchpad @ one-north).  Our insights' topics revolved around significance of e-commerce, social media, conventional and contemporary means of digital advertising in Singapore and some shared examples in the region.  Jam packed with information and a slight touch of humor, the seminar indulged the audience as well as the panelists/speakers in an enjoyable two way flow of knowledge. Why is this so? And what are the challenges and opportunities in adopting digital marketing into a B2B business strategy? Drawing on various case studies, Juliet will be sharing from the experience of a variety of her clients, ranging from multinational companies to local firms – how they have started transitioning to digital, and the challenges, successes and results. Her industry expertise ranges from life sciences, medical devices, industrial manufacturing, professional services and food/pharmaceutical processing. After spending several years in Europe, she returned to Asia in 2010 to strengthen the regional capabilities of ABI, a boutique global marketing and communications agency. Based in Singapore and starting with a lean team, she expanded the firm's reach into China and spearheaded regional growth, creating a strong client footprint across the Asia-Pacific. In her spare time, Juliet manages a local community Paya Lebar Business Alliance, to help business owners and SMEs in the area to grow and share ideas. Juliet is currently the Managing Director, Asia-Pacific / Global Director of  ABI Asia Marketing Public Relations Pte Ltd. 2) How Digital Marketing Affects by the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in Singapore? Digital marketing (DM) is the promotion of products or brands via one or more forms of electronic media. In doing so, digital marketers monitor things like what is being viewed, how often and for how long, sales conversions, what content works and doesn't work. Whether you realized it or not, the act of "monitoring" can only be achieved by collecting personal data of an individual, about his behavior on the media platform used for DM. For the collection of personal data, you need to comply with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in Singapore. Failure to comply can land you a hefty fine (up to m) and/or even a jail term. What must you know and do in order to comply with the Act? Speakers' Profile Pius Lee is a Director and partner at YtK Corporate Advisory Pte Ltd (YtK CA) – a consultancy company that provides assistance to SMEs on how to comply with the Singapore PDPA (2012). YtK CA has been providing this service since 2014 when the PDPA and DNC were implemented.  With more than 25 years of business experience in the marketing and advisory service industry, Pius is well placed to understand the needs and challenges of new startups especially in this new millennium where the internet of things (IOT) is the virtual real world in lifestyle and in business.
