Enterprising Women Conference
Event on 2013-02-11 09:00:00
YWCA Muskoka is excited to announce the First Annual Enterprising Women Conference to take place on February 11, 2013. It will feature Dianne Buckner, the host of the popular CBC reality television show The Dragon’s Den, as a keynote speaker.
As host of a show that offers business investment opportunities to entrepreneurs based on their business ‘pitch’ to the members of the Dragon’s Den, Buckner will offer her own wisdom at the conference on what she calls ‘The Art of the Pitch’. This theme is relevant to women at all stages of business – from planning stages to experienced business owners. There is going to be time during the day for individuals to work on their own personal pitches and receive feedback from facilitators and other participants.
Along with Buckner’s address, the all-day conference will feature concurrent sessions on a variety of engaging business topics including: expansion and growth; funding opportunities for small and medium sized enterprises, improving you bottom line by considering a green business advantage; creating a social media marketing plan; and strategies to sustain your energy and your love for what you do. A Business Marketplace will offer participants the opportunity to learn about different funding sources and local resources for small- and medium-sized enterprises. Lots of great networking will also take place.
Concurrent Sessions that will be offered are as follows:

Planning for Success Promising Practises
YWCA Muskoka wants to help improve financial and growth opportunities for women business owners in Muskoka by making financing and resource information more accessible. To begin let’s improve your understanding of practices within financial organizations and take a look at guiding principles you may consider when planning for sustainability and potential growth. This session will look at a resource document being created by YWCA Muskoka that will better inform women business owners and partners who provide support and lending services to women, of the practices that will help ensure an unbiased approach. Get to know the resource document and provide YWCA Muskoka with your feedback.
Harness your Market with Social Media What about a plan?
Everyone agrees that businesses have to leverage the power of social media. How does social media fit into your integrated marketing strategy? What are the best and most effective ways to establish relationships, foster communication, and improve brand awareness? How do you decide which platform to select: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Etsy or Pinterest? Are some platforms more preferable or suitable according to the nature of your business and where the desired audience is available? This session will help you think about how to maximize your social media efforts.
