Royal Salute celebrates the power and masculinity of the noble Sport of Kings and this weekends Labor Day polo spectacular will be no exception. At the opening polo match of the fall season White Birch captained by Peter Brant, one of Americas most successful polo teams, will face off against Bridgehampton Polo Club favorite Harry Winston captained by Nacho Figueras, in the inaugural high-goal Royal Salute Jubilee Cup at 3:30PM on Sunday 2nd September, Greenwich Polo Club, CT.
Open to the public, the United States Polo Association has sanctioned this match at 20 goal, making it one of the highest rated pro-am polo matches to be played anywhere in the USA in September. Peter Brants White Birch team, part of one of the top polo organizations in the world featuring Mariano Aguerre, has won every major high-goal polo tournament in the United States over the last 25 years. Meanwhile Bash Kazi’s Harry Winston team is a highly ranked Bridgehampton Polo Club favorite, featuring a star line up of top players including Matias Magrini and Nacho Figueras who has played regularly at Greenwich Polo Club over the years.
His Grace the Duke of Argyll will lead celebrations by throwing in the first ball to start the match. Later during the prize-giving a Scottish piper will add a twist to Labor Day weekend festivities by saluting the sportsmanship of the players and horses, in what Greenwich Polo Club predict will be one of the biggest matches of its season.
