Dispelling design trends that are actually bad for your UX. Calling out all the hotnesses that really suck. There are plenty of design trends that seem pretty great—until you check out the data that shows that they are actually terrible for usability and/or conversion. Let’s talk about some of those trends that seem like a tasty idea at the time… until you start to digest them.  Share your thoughts on bad UX trends and follow the conversation using #NHUXPA.   The Presenters: Jesse Rand Creative Director, Design/Development Manager—Vital Design Jesse’s experience has found him working in Boston’s mobile start-up industry where he functioned as UI designer and graphic artist. Jesse then moved into the world of web design and development and has produced a vast portfolio of interactive websites. Functioning as both a print designer and primary web developer Jesse manages the production of all major design/development projects at Vital. Jesse holds a BFA from Plymouth State University, with a concentration in graphic design. Adam Walter Director of Development—Vital Design Adam’s first experience with code was in the 1980s using TI BASIC on his family’s Texas Instruments Home Computer to draw different shapes and colors on their TV screen. It wasn’t until the late 1990s that he seriously started learning to code thanks to the advent of the Internet. Today, Adam is a skilled front-end developer with extensive knowledge in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. He is a diehard WordPress fan and a lover of open source technology. Having received his B.S. in Graphic Design from Northeastern University, he also has a keen eye for design and typography. Offline, Adam loves to travel the world, hike, bike, cook, and is a science fiction fanatic as well as a proud lefty. Chris Getman Director of Inbound Marketing—Vital Design Chris Getman is an experienced account executive and project manager who brings a wealth of knowledge in SEO, online marketing and branding to Vital. Before joining the Vital team, Chris worked as an account executive at MicroArts in Greenland, NH, and as a product management specialist for Measured Progress in Dover, NH. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurial Venture Creation. Shawn Grant Senior Visual Designer—PixelMEDIA Shawn Grant is a designer with a love for prototypes, nice interactions, and clean design. By day he’s crushing pixels at PixelMEDIA and by night, he’s designing and building his latest side project. When he’s not banging on his keyboard, you can find him roaming the White Mountains or plucking away on his banjo.    Our Host: Vital is a 35+ person digital marketing agency located in Boston, MA & Portsmouth, NH.  We've been around for 14 years with a simple vision, to make the best websites and most effective content on the web for the brands that we love.
