Englewood, NJ (PRWEB) October 16, 2012

Graduate school application deadlines are fast approaching. For those of you who are planning to apply (or for those already mid process), here are a few tips to help you along the way.

1.) Schedule campus visits. If you have the time and funds available, check out your potential programs facilities, talk to professors, and speak to current students. Find the library and look into on and off-campus graduate housing areas. Nothing is better than a first-hand look, so plan visits if you are able.

2.) Check out the surrounding neighborhoods. Even if you cant visit the school, you can use Google Earth to gain some insight into the surrounding areas . Find the public libraries, grocery stores, parks, bike paths, or whatever else might interest you.

3.) Follow up with those writing your letters of recommendation. Kindly remind him or her of deadlines and requested formats (either through standard mail or through an online form).

4.) Keep a list of deadlines on your calendar. Dont miss them!

5.) Start your applications early. Try to leave the week prior to the deadline open. Use this time to edit your personal statements and double check you have fulfilled all the requirements.
