Florida Direct Marketing Association Annual Mktg Summit 2007 Launches With Digital Direct Marketing Education Day September 19

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) August 22, 2007

The Florida Direct Marketing Association (FDMA) will hold a Digital Direct Marketing Education Day on September 19, a day of pre-conference seminars preceding the group’s flagship event of the year, the FDMA Annual Summit on Thursday September 20. Both the pre-conference Digital Direct Marketing Day and the Annual Summit will take place at the Westin Hotel Ft. Lauderdale. The line-up includes Advanced Search Engine Marketing training taught by Joe Laratro, running concurrently with the Email Marketing & Deliverability Boot Camp taught by Karen Talavera and sponsored by email marketing compliance service company Lashback.

The 2007 Annual Summit, “From Demand Generation to Dialog Creation” has been re-designed and expanded over previous years to include both educational seminars and traditional networking and conference speakers. “We’re thrilled to expand our programming to include in-depth professional development in one of the newest sectors of direct marketing – digital media,” said Keith Fletcher, FDMA President. “Although many associations, including the national Direct Marketing Association (DMA), offer direct marketing professional education, not many events are held in our area on a regular basis. This year’s pre-conference seminars not only deliver added learning opportunities for attendees, but help meet the direct marketing educational needs of the south Florida business community.”

With use of the Internet yet to peak, search engine marketing is a topic many advertisers are clamoring for more information on, and that’s exactly the need Joe Laratro set out to meet when he founded Tandem Interactive, a firm offering search engine marketing training, education, and consulting. Mr. Laratro is a highly regarded search marketing expert and is an active speaker at industry events including Webmaster World and Search Engine Strategies (SES) Conferences. He frequently moderates numerous sessions at the Webmaster World Search Conferences across the nation and has also been quoted in articles in Internet Retailer, eMarketer, DMNews, eWeek, MediaPost, and Target Marketing. Tandem Interactive was also a collaborator in designing the DMA’s Search Engine Marketing Certification Program, so Joe was a natural choice for the FDMA seminar.

Advanced Search Engine Marketing Training is a one-day intensive covering more advanced online marketing tactics such as Content Development, Press Releases, Blogs, PPC, Page Quality Score, Analytics, Social Media, Site Clinics & More. The morning will be devoted to Natural Search Engine Optimization. Advanced content development in the form of Editorials, White Papers, Newsletters, and other informative articles will be reviewed. Second Generation Submissions, including Google Webmaster Tools and Yahoo’s Site Explorer, will be covered. Other topics will include Site Architecture, Advanced Linking, SEO Tools, Social Media Marketing (MySpace, FaceBook, LinkedIn, Digg, Del.icio.us, etc) and Spam tactics to avoid.

The afternoon will be devoted to Advanced Pay Per Click strategies on Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter. Bidding, landing page and ad text strategies will be covered. Google’s Page Quality Score, Yahoo’s new Panama release and the Google Adwords Editor will be examined through live demonstrations.

An even more dialog-based online marketing channel than search is email, so the FDMA also offers its Email Marketing Boot Camp taught by veteran email marketing educator Karen Talavera of Synchronicity Marketing. This one-day seminar is an ideal immersion into permission email marketing, covering the essentials from evolving legislative regulations to avoiding the pitfalls of email deliverability and poor reputation, to message design, campaign deployment, testing and metrics. Numerous real-life email marketing messages will be showcased and analyzed. Having designed and taught the DMA’s email marketing seminars for nearly the past decade, Talavera is an experienced email and integrated marketing expert who moved her consulting business to south Florida two years ago. “Since I began teaching email marketing in the late 1990’s I’ve been continually amazed by the growing appetite for formal instruction. I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to bring email marketing education to my local community,” said Talavera.

The September 19 seminars run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and include a combined networking continental breakfast and combined group lunch. The September 20 Annual Summit conference begins with registration, networking and continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m., includes a sit-down lunch, and concludes at 3:00 p.m. At less than $ 500 for the day, the FDMA’s Digital Direct Marketing seminars cost only a fraction of what most full-day online marketing events are priced at. “Access to professional, proven instructors attracted to our locale allows us to bring quality instruction to companies and individuals who otherwise couldn’t afford it,” added Fletcher.

The FDMA has made special savings available for those who register early and combined discounts are also available for participants who elect to attend both a pre-conference seminar and the main conference. Prices for combined seminar/conference attendance are $ 450 for FDMA members and $ 525 for non-members with a free six-month FDMA membership included in the non-member rate (a savings of $ 178). Digital Direct Marketing seminar-only rates are $ 399 for members, $ 499 for non-members. September 20 conference-only attendance is $ 99 for members, $ 119 for non-members with a $ 20 discount available for early registration by August 31 at http://www.fdma.org.
