Nick D’Anello, the owner and operator of a new interactive dating web site, LoopDating.com, researched those questions with surprising results.
He tested his theory using two different photo groups – one of highly attractive people and one of less attractive individuals. When the images appeared at the top of the page, regardless of the subjects appearance, both received a high number of views/clicks. The reason, he deduced, was visibility. With that in mind, he went to work creating something other dating websites overlook a place where activity on the site is rewarded with higher placement on the page.
Every website in the universe wants to be at the top of Googles search results, so why not apply the same concept to online dating? Traditional dating websites have thousands of profiles. These profiles bury each other deeper and deeper by the minute. It’s like walking into a roomful of single people and turning off the lights. You can’t see whos winking at you. Even using search results/filters doesnt solve the problem because the profile you should be seeing may end up on page 20 of your search. The solution seemed obvious let people take a more pro-active stance and make themselves more visible by turning on the lights.
D’Anello feels LoopDating provides that light switch since it gives users the ability to make profile photos visible on-demand. With the click of a button, the users photo is looped. Its displayed on page one, spot one and everyone viewing the page (logged in or not) can see it. Of course, the profile doesnt stay at number one. Daters need to stay active and clicking, but their activity is rewarded with higher page placement.
Many people would like to be on the front page of a dating site, says DAnello. Traditional online dating sites often offer higher placement for an extra service charge. With LoopDating.com, being on the front page only depends on your involvement. Rather than paying fees for a front page profile, getting to the front page is literally just a matter of posting, or looping, a photo. We have 100 spots available on the front page at any given moment. And looping back to the top of the page is as easy as clicking the “loop me” button.
For those who might be shy, D’Anello points out that users dont have to “loop” their photo. They can just message other people without posting photos. Furthermore, visitors can see live users streaming without having to sign up. They only have to sign up if they want to message a fellow user. Plus, people are at liberty to choose what information to reveal aside from their first name and age. Users just search using the filter of gender and age, which goes from 18 years old to over 50.
Some have wondered how this site got started. DAnello states, I began webpage/app programming as a hobby and I realized this concept had a different angle to the established online dating industry. With that in mind, I created the site. Like Craigslist, it isnt designed to be pretty. Its built to be highly functional and puts real substance over trendy style.
Right now, Loopdating is offering new sign-ups a free account and free photo “looping”. DAnello explains, Eventually, well have a fee structure of some type. For now though, everyone is welcome to sign up, post free of charge and chat away with their potential future partner. Our purpose is to get people to use the site and share this new concept with their friends. Dating can be hard work, but our goal is to reward the time people spend by offering them more exposure.
