As per a report on 14th June 2013 on the Search Engine Journal, Google plans to update its algorithm yet again and while these updates wouldnt have the same earth shattering impact as its Panda and Penguin updates, those whore still practicing dubious SEO techniques should prepare to have their rankings slashed.
According to the report, while Google has described its upcoming update as one that would probe just a little deeper than Penguin on the veracity of backlinks, and one that would have a little more impact than Penguin, this update has the potential to completely nullify the effect all black-hat SEO practices.
According to Samuel Junghenn, a highly respected SEO consultant and the founder of Think Big, Google through this latest Algorithm update will target sites that purchase backlinks from paid sources. A lot of websites with low quality content thrived in the Pre-Penguin era by purchasing loads of backlinks from paid link schemes and blog networks. The Penguin update targeted a lot of these but there were several that had managed go under the radar. Google by now will have surely identified many more websites that sell or encourage low quality link building practices and when they are penalized, all their customers too would find themselves in trouble.
Samuel feels that its far safer to practice white hat SEO and encourages webmasters to use high quality content to build links organically. According to him organizations that offer SEO services to their clients should give up all shady link building practices, which worked wonders in the past but would only hurt their clients now.
Samuel also advises that websites with a lot of inbound links from low quality sources should use the Disavow tool to negate the ill effects of the upcoming update. Google will definitely deindex several blog networks and low quality directories, and it would prove to a tidal wave for websites that are using or have used these platforms in the past to generate links.
