Attorneys Jon Zimring and Howard L. Mocerf have joined the Chicago office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Zimring joins as a shareholder and Mocerf joins as a practice group attorney in the Labor & Employment Practice. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, they were partners at Duane Morris LLP.
Zimring practices management-side labor and employment law. Drawing on court and administrative agency experience defending employers in all types of labor and employment litigation, Zimring has an active practice assisting employers with prevention through proactive audits, compensation analyses, investigations and consultation, and the development of policies, procedures, systems and training. Zimrings practice includes the representation of employers through the gamut of workplace issues, including traditional labor relations with unions, affirmative action compliance, wage and hour, leave and disability and all forms of discrimination, harassment and retaliation. He earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and his B.A., with high honors, from the University of Michigan.
Mocerf focuses his practice on labor law and management employment matters, including collective bargaining, representation and unfair labor practice matters under The National Labor Relations Act, labor arbitration, OSHA matters, wage and hour disputes, trade secrets and non-compete agreements, and employment discrimination matters. He is experienced in developing and writing employee handbooks, affirmative action plans and employment policies, including harassment, substance abuse, social media, e-mail and Internet use, family and medical leave, and others. Mocerf earned his J.D. from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law and his B.A. from Washington and Lee University.
In addition to bolstering our Chicago bench strength for employment litigation, Jon and Howard together bring many years of traditional labor experience dealing with unions on behalf of employers, said Michael D. Karpeles, chair of the Chicago Labor & Employment Practice. Jon also adds a robust practice in strategic workplace counseling, training and regulatory compliance, with particular emphasis on working with federal government contractors on their affirmative action programs and assisting them in their dealings with the OFCCP.
