  1. Do you think Groupon and other group buying platforms are a sustainable way for small business owners to build their customer base and increase revenues over the long term? Nope! They do give you a quick hit of immediate revenue (at a cost!), AND YET the next day those same Groupies are off to the new coupon. No relationship, no repeat sales, no ROI (discounting is "I" – don’t kid yourself!)   2. I don’t agree. I own a business that has run several deals through deal sites and we have brought in a substantial amount of long-term customers. While there are some that come once and never return – most stayed. I think it depends greatly on the type of business. I own a dog daycare and people aren’t usually going to come once as they would with a food place.
