IHRDC Streamlines SEMS Compliance Process for Offshore Operators

BOSTON (PRWEB) December 11, 2012

International Human Resources Development Corporation (IHRDC) announced today the launch of its new Compliance Module, software designed to help offshore operators and contractors comply with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE)s Workplace Safety Rule. The regulation requires all offshore operators and contractors to create a Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) that compiles safety and environmental information, training and competency status, risk assessments, emergency plans, and other information.

IHRDCs new module, part of IHRDCs competency management software, CMS Online, is specifically designed to manage SEMS regulations, providing companies with a detailed snapshot of their compliance status across the organization. The Compliance Module can function either alone or as an integrated part of CMS Online.

IHRDC and our international roster of clients have been working together to develop a computer-based tool to track and report on mandated training requirements. The increased emphasis on compliance and enforcement by BSEE and international regulators makes the launch of this tool very timely, said Bradford Donohue, IHRDC vice president, competency management. Our new Compliance Module allows clients to track each employees training and compliance status and easily gather and review the information when it is time for an audit.

The implementation of a SEMS program can help prevent accidents by addressing human elements and avoid costly errors through better organization and training. The new regulations also require extensive environmental and safety documentation and periodic audits of the entire system to ensure that all aspects of the rule are met.

Because the new rules can require several training events to satisfy a single regulation, IHRDC uses the concept of a Compliance Role to track each employees progress. By grouping the required training according to these roles, a compliance status report provides a clear view of the current state of compliance for employees, supervisors, and managers. A Compliance Dashboard lets supervisors immediately know the compliance status in real time for all of their employees, and alerts them via e-mail when an individuals compliance is going to expire. IHRDCs Compliance Module can also be linked to a clients Learning Management System to further facilitate the task of maintaining workforce compliance for mandated training requirements.
