Robotic Pirate Monkey
After forming in late Spring of 2010, Robotic Pirate Monkey quickly emerged out of Boulder's dense electronic music scene. RPM is the collaboration of Andrew Hathaway, Matt Berryhill, and Matt Flesher. RPM's latest EP "Sidetracked" was released last spring at their debut sellout show at The Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO. Following their first sellout show in Boulder, RPM sold out the Bluebird in Denver and played the world-renowned Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks Amphitheater in July. Their most recent track 'Rio De Fuego,' off their upcoming album, has fans excited for the entire album to drop later this fall.
James Ristvedt isn't a typical third-year law student. He balances his time between days in classrooms and nights between stacks of speakers. Just a few months from finishing his final year of law school, James' bass-fueled alter ego Alpha Data may have something to say about what the future holds. Alpha Data's debut release, Nefertiti (released on GruntWorthy Music), hit #1 on the Beatport Glit ch Hop chart, and #50 on the Beatport All Genres chart. This is not a small feat considering his touring to that point was limited to shows played in the Midwest. A follow-up release, Nefertiti Remixes, was released in January with remixes of the chart-topping "Nefertiti" by an all-star cast of producers (fellow #1 Beatport artist Samples, Unlimited Gravity, Sovereign Sect, J.me.j, and Burn Brighter). With over 1000 followers on Soundcloud and a couple dozen tracks released via Soundcloud, glitch hop fans across the nation have started to catch on. His signature sound, combining high-intensity bass with catchy, melodic hooks, has built him a steady and loyal following in the rapidly emerging EDM scene. Having recently released multiple remixes of well-known pop culture hits, Alpha Data doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. After spending New Year's Eve opening and playing setbreaks for the Disco Biscuits at the prestigious Auditorium Theatre in Chicago and having shared the stage across the country with numerous internationally renowned EDM producers (Flux Pavilion, Shpongle, Kill the Noise, Tipper, Excision, Beats Antique and countless others) Alpha Data has repeatedly showcased his ability to appeal across multiple genres. Alpha Data – Coming soon to a sound system near you!
Words will inevitably fail to properly describe Freddy Todd. Genre-busting could be is an understatement. You can't pin him down with lexicon like lazer-bass and glitch-funk; these phrases fall way short of capturing the expressiveness, fearlessness, and space-traveling qualities of his music. Hearing his music is akin to being abducted by an extra-terrestrial cruise liner where everyone is tripping on space acid. And if you are lucky enough to witness him produce, you'll see that he fittingly looks just like the captain of said space cruiser, both hands intently gripping his electronics like the instrument panel on the flight deck. Based out of Detroit, Freddy Todd is truly a master of his craft not only in the studio but on stages across the globe. Without any pre-recorded sets, Freddy has the skills and the audacity to perform on the fly mixes of 100% original material tailored to his specific audience, mood, and venue each night, be it a theater in northern California, a club in the back alleys of Detroit, or an outdoor festival in the bush off the eastern coast of Australia (occasionally on special nights with his live drummer, ill.so.naj). His earth shattering, meticulously programmed beats and rhythms, his lazer crunk, funky psychedelic bass and sound design, and his brain tingling, intelligently soul-soaked synths, melodies, and field-recorded samples are sure to shake your consciousness as they blast through airwaves out of top notch sound systems across the universe.
