Learn Windows 8 in 3 minutes (OK, it’s really 4)

This video too fast? There’s a slow and calm and much more professional 25 minute version: youtu.be Learn Windows 8 in 3 minutes (OK, it’s 4). I run through the basic concepts you need to know to use Windows 8 in just 4 minutes. I thought it would be three but I was having too much fun. I’m sure you could figure these tips out in 20 minutes of playing around yourself but I figured I could save you a little time.

  1. It’s not obstinate, and I am definitely not in the minority. It is a kludged, schizo interface that doesn’t know if it wants to be a tablet or a desktop. But hey, I don’t want to stop a person from drinking his favorite kool-aid.

  2. People confuse intuitiveness with similarities. Windows 3 wasn’t intuitive when you were used to DOS and Windows 95 wasn’t very intuitive when you were used to Windows 3. And complaining that having to take less than 15 minutes to learn ALL new key functions of a re-worked OS is a sign of a counter-intuitive OS, is just obstinate behaviour.

  3. It’s pretty sad that you need a video to show you how to use an OS… didn’t have this problem with any prior version of windows, or even with MacOS (which I don’t like, but at least it’s intuitive). I actually had less difficulty using some of the lesser known Linux distros. This is just two different paradigms kludged together and unfortunately does not need to be this difficult out of the box.

  4. No matter what you think of Metro and Windows 8… this is how an introductory video is done! And no, Windows 8 is neither slow nor unproductive, it’s actually quite slick once you get the hang of it. Although, I really despise that UGLY Win + X menu… it’s like power users always are supposed to be the guys who just don’t care how look… the truth is, I DO care. I want big icons or tiles, big fonts, too… not some crappy context menu from the 80ies.
