9am-10am: What Is Your Story?
Every artist needs an EPK (electronic press kit) which acts as your professional music resume. But, it needs to reflect who you are, not just list your influences. In this seminar, musician and writer Mary McGuire will share the tools you need to ensure your EPK stands out. She will review your existing EPK, offer editing suggestions and give you time to work on it and share it for a final review.
What you will accomplish during Monday’s session: how to write and or rewrite a short and extended biography, how to select the right images, quotes, press links, how and when to include gig, concert or show information and the relevant links to your professional work (audio, video, images or texts).
What you will accomplish during Tuesday’s session: how to select the best companion sites for you; Reverb Nation, Band Page, Music Page, Sound Cloud, YouTube, etc. Then, how to select those that will be most useful to you and how use those sites to your best advantage. Lastly, you will learn how to integrate those sites with your website and Facebook Page.
