Mediaplanet Brings Activism to Those Living with Mental Illness in Bew Mental Health Awareness Campaign

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 29, 2015

The campaign focuses on the overall topic of mental wellness, as well as a number of specific concerns within, including the importance of early intervention and integrative care, stigma reduction and mental health in the workplace. We are encouraged to re-think the ways we speak about mental health. The campaign also brings special focus to people living with bipolar disorder and PTSD, inspiring those individuals to speak up and seek help from healthcare professionals and their overall community.

The print component of Mental Health Awareness is distributed within this weekends edition of USA Today in New York, Chicago and LA, with a circulation of approximately 250,000 copies and an estimated readership of 750,000. The print component will also be distributed at the upcoming Mental Health America 2015 Annual Conference in Alexandria, Virginia, from June 3-5, 2015. The events theme is Intervention and Innovation and it focuses on Mental Health Americas Before Stage 4 initiative, which encourages earlier diagnosis of mental illness. The publication will be included as an insert in all of the attendee bags at that conference.

The digital component is distributed nationally, through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. To explore the digital version of the campaign, click here.

The cover of the print publication features singer-songwriter and noted mental health advocate Demi Lovato. In an exclusive interview, Lovato addresses her own diagnosis with bipolar disorder, and the importance of speaking up in order to get the right diagnosis and find an appropriate treatment plan. She also discusses Be Vocal, a new initiative she is aligned with that encourages people to speak up in an effort to end the bias associated with mental illness in this country.

This campaign was made possible with the support of The National Alliance on Mental Illness, mental health advocate Demi Lovato, Mental Health America, Give an Hour and The Campaign to Change Direction, The National Council for Behavioral Health, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, The Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness, Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, Aetna Behavioral Health, Center for Discovery, The American Psychiatric Foundation and Actavis Pharmaceuticals.
