Miss Fiesta Health Fair

Miss Fiesta Health Fair
Event on 2013-10-12 09:00:00

San Antonio is ranked among the highest American cities for rates of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Each community health fair is meant to address these issues and other public health challenges San Anotonio and the surrounding communities face.

Health Fairs will include:

  • Screening for diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, COPD risk, and additional disease processes that may affect our community
  • Education will focus on how to prevent health disparities and how to live with them if they currently exist
  • Health care agencies, professionals, and community partners will include many organizations and businesses within the area that work to create a healthier life. These include clinics, dentist, pharmacist, gyms, food clubs, nutritional advice, fitness activities, exercise alternatives, referral information, and other resources available in the community.

All students are encouraged to sign up to volunteer. If you are not already signed up to volunteer with a student organization, we will work to get you in contact with organizations in your discipline.

If you are a leader of an organization at UTHSCSA, please contact Victoria Flores, floresvm@livemail.uthscsa.edu to register your student organization to host a booth.
