Thank you for your interest in the No Stress WordPress workshop series running May 25th, June 8th and June 22nd, 2013 at the McNichols Civic Center Building.  In these sessions, you will learn the ins and outs of using WordPress, the world’s number one website publishing platform.  WordPress is an open-source, free, regularly-updated Content Management System used by CNN, the Rolling Stones, Blondie, Snoop Dogg, A-Ha, Olympic athlete Usain Bolt, and major businesses and corporations around the globe.

Part One: Embracing the Web

In this introductory session we will focus on:

·         Finding appropriate and adequate web hosts

·         Web development best practices

·         Free hosting versus paid hosting

·         Design standards

·         Dashboard settings

Part Two: Intermediate WordPress Warrior

In this session, we will discuss and demonstrate the following:

·         Finding and using widgets

·         Finding and using appropriate plugins

·         Reviewing top plugins

·         Reviewing themes: some top free ones, and the differences between free and premium themes

·         What to look for in comparing free and premium themes, weighing the factors

Part Three: Zero to Hero

In this session we will review the differences between free and premium themes more in-depth, setting up a contact form page, eCommerce solutions that work for anyone, menu taxonomy, designing for user experience and easy navigation, making your site mobile-friendly, SEO, more plugins, backing-up your site, and taking your questions.

This is for advanced WordPress users, and requires either attending the two previous workshops or a highly-advanced level of WordPress comfort.

About the Instructor:

David Somerfleck is the Owner and Chief Web Developer for Affordable Websites Denver, LLC, a local web design and development company specializing in WordPress custom theme development and internet marketing.

David has a BA in English and has taught at Palm Beach State College, Concorde Career College, and Metropolitan State College of Denver. He is certified in business management, nonprofit program administration, and has been building websites since 1998.
