October 4, 2012 | Hilton – San Diego Bayfront | San Diego, CA
As 2012 steadily moves to our rearview mirror, we continue to observe the growing demand in the pharmaceutical industry to better leverage SharePoint. This widespread trend has led to an increased pursuit of standards and best practices to improve SharePoint's scalability and sustainability. The use of SharePoint collaboration software for content management has become a
critical part of today's drug discovery process. SharePoint 2010 software has laid a
foundation which enables researchers to collaborate and search on various content. The
amount of data generated during a transition of a single compound from preclinical
discovery to commercialization can easily reach terabytes; thus there is high demand for a
chemically aware search algorithm that supplements SharePoint to enable researchers to
query more effectively. A Chemically Aware system supplementing SharePoint is a step
towards making the drug discovery process more efficient and to search in a more intuitive
way. It also significantly helps researchers by allowing them to tag documents with
molecular entities and integrating them with image recognition software to find information
contained in .pdf documents.
