Quintessence Group, founder and Americas leading small business expert, Melinda Emerson, better known as SmallBizLady, today mark five years of hosting #SmallBizChat, the popular weekly live tweet chat for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Special guest Steve Strauss, founder of The Self Employed and USA TODAY Senior Small Business Columnist, will join Melinda Emerson on Twitter tonight from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST to talk small business survival. Only fifty percent of new businesses survive the first five years. Back in the day, an entrepreneur could succeed simply by understanding how to run the business, says Strauss. That is not true todaybusiness is as much about technology as almost anything else. This anniversary of #SmallBizChat, Steve Strauss will talk about what it takes to stay in business and answer questions live.

#SmallBizChat has become an incredible way to convene start-up and existing entrepreneurs to help each other, says Melinda Emerson, SmallBizLady and C.E.O. of Quintessence Group. This year, I am thrilled to celebrate the fifth anniversary with Steve Strauss and Accelerate with Google.

Every Wednesday night, for five years straight and nearly 250 shows, Melinda Emerson has interviewed a small business subject expert, live on Twitter, to help entrepreneurs get answers to their small business questions. In a blog post, Emerson highlights #SmallBizChat’s five best moments including author Michael Gerber, Silicon Valley-icon Guy Kawasaki, Cupcake Wars Candace Nelson, Gilt Groupe Co-Founder Alexis Maybank, and customer service guru Shep Hyken.
