PRSA July Luncheon: IRONMAN Chattanooga
Event on 2014-07-18 12:00:00
Three minutes after registration opened last September, IRONMAN Chattanooga slots sold out. More than 2,400 athletes will visit the Scenic City on Sunday, Sept. 28, in the eleventh race of the IRONMAN U.S. Series. But long before athletes will swim in the Tennessee River, bike around the foot of Lookout Mountain and run through downtown, there was a plan to lure the national triathlon series to Chattanooga.
Tim Morgan, president of Chattanooga Sports Committee, helped spearhead the bid to bring the most recognized triathlon series to Chattanooga. On Friday, July 18, at noon, the Lookout PRSA Chapter will host Morgan, along with Mike Gloekler, communications and public relations manager at the race’s title sponsor McKee Foods, at its July professional development meeting at The Foundry.
Morgan and Gloekler will discuss how the city won the selection process, how the development of strategic partnerships is vital to the inaugural race’s success and how they have worked together to deliver a cohesive message to stakeholders. And of course, they will share details about we can expect to see around town the last weekend of September.
