Red Sky Blue Water LLC jumped on the Windows 8 app bandwagon by developing and launching a new Windows 8 survey creation app theyve aptly named evalu8. The app available exclusively for the Windows 8 platform enables users to easily author surveys and gather quick feedback from anyone who can use a tablet. Evalu8s intuitive user interface was designed specifically with the non-technical user in mind in that it greatly simplifies the tasks of creating, previewing, and managing multiple surveys. In addition, the initial version of evalu8 allows users to brand their surveys with their own logo. The free, trial version of the app allows the creation of up to 3 different surveys with ten questions. Purchasing the full version from the Windows 8 App Store gets rid of these limits.
The concept behind evalu8 got its start when one of Red Sky Blue Waters clients requested a survey tool that would run on the Windows 8 platform and on multiple tablet devices. The client required that the survey be presented using the tablet form factor as an easy way to gather and report on customer satisfaction data in real time from a technical trade show booth. While the resulting application was well-received, it was highly customized and very specific to that clients purpose. Red Sky Blue Water identified an opportunity to broaden its appeal by making the app more customizable, simplifying its administrative interface, and improving the overall user experience. To achieve this, Red Sky Blue Water, together with one of its strategic partners, combined their complementary skills in user interface design and data and business intelligence to develop evalu8.
Apart from evalu8, Red Sky Blue Water is working on delivering another Windows 8 app that will appeal to marine navigators. The marine calculator app helps sailors more accurately calculate their speed- time-distance, compass correction and bearings, and fuel consumption. The marine calculator is currently already available for Windows Phone, but Red Sky Blue Water hopes to release a Windows 8 version soon.
The trend toward mobile computing continues to grow, and Windows 8 is the latest operating system from Microsoft to enter the mobile scene. Red Sky Blue Water is bullish about Windows 8 and the possibilities and options it brings to businesses and consumers alike. The Seattle-based company hopes to capitalize on the fact that there is still ample room for growth in the number of apps currently available in the Windows 8 App Store and aspires to be a premier publisher of many more Windows 8 applications in the near future.
