Rockingham County Economic Development Launches New Website

Rockingham County Economic Development is pleased to announce the launch of their new website,

Located along the I-81 corridor in west central Virginia, Rockingham County is part of the Harrisonburg Metropolitan Area, one of the top performing small metropolitan areas in Virginia and the United States. The county boasts a great transportation network, a relaxing lifestyle and a pro-business climate within a 2 hour drive of both Washington D.C. and Richmond.

Major corporations in biotechnology, information technology, food processing, manufacturing, aviation, and logistics grow and prosper in Rockingham County and surrounding areas, including SRI International, Rosetta Stone, MillerCoors, Merck, Virginia Poultry Growers Association, RR Donnell, Dynamic Aviation and others.

Innovation Village @ Rockingham, a 365-acre, Class A master planned technology park, is also located in the County. SRI International established its east coast campus, SRI Shenandoah Valley, at the tech park in 2009.

Website visitors can get details on the location of Rockingham County, Virginia (including maps), information on business advantages, major employers, operating costs, the local government, transportation characteristics, utilities and more.

Information for new businesses and entrepreneurs

The Business Support Services section of the website gives visitors looking to start a business a step-by-step guide to starting a business in the County and what to expect when starting the business. The website also links existing businesses to workforce training information with local and state groups and programs.

Expanded news and publications section

Rockingham County staff can now publish news and items of interest in a centralized location. The website also links to publications that the County releases, as well as case studies of companies that have located and expanded in Rockingham County.
