Search Marketing Project Night (May 2013)

Thursday, May 23rd from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Join us for the first Search Marketing Project Night (co-sponsored by Venture Café and General Assembly, two of Boston’s largest entrepreneurial and learning communities). This is an informal event with lots of discussion and gathering around laptops. Beginners are welcome!

We will start with introductions; then, we'll ask for volunteers to offer specific challenges for discussion or websites/campaigns for review. Any SEM topic is fair game. Dale, Will and Giuseppe will come prepared to discuss SEO, keyword research, setting up an AdWords campaign, diagnosing AdWords performance issues, PR for search marketers, white-hat link building and content marketing.

Search Marketing Project Night is for anyone working on a search marketing campaign who would like to compare notes. Our members are both experienced and novice search marketers who come to get answers to their questions, seek advice to specific problems and learn new strategies from their peers.

No need to work in isolation… Each month, we huddle up to share results, brainstorm solutions and review each other’s campaigns. So, bring your laptop and questions for the group. Sessions may include short and action-oriented presentations to save you the time and aggravation of learning the hard way.
About the Organizers:

Dale Bertrand (Founder, Greenway Media) has over a decade of search marketing experience. In his current role, Dale oversees projects involving organic SEO, AdWords and lead generation. His clients are primarily venture-backed startups, including several TechStars Boston companies. Prior to founding Greenway, Dale started two online lead generation businesses providing search engine based customer acquisition services to clients in the wedding, corporate events and education industries. In his spare time, Dale enjoys tennis, skiing and urban adventures with his two kids.

Giuseppe Frustaci (Principal, InnoVox Marketing), is a marketing professional with a focus on digital performance marketing. Specializing in PPC, he has managed M+ in marketing budgets for clients such as, Procter and Gamble, and Novartis. Particularly interested in early-stage market testing methods for startups, Giuseppe has worked with (.2M in funding), (.7M in funding), and Statement1. 

Will Brierly (Owner, Snowrunner Productions) has been in the publicity and marketing industry for over ten years with his company Snowrunner Productions. Over that time Snowrunner has successfully promoted a wide range of clients from the gaming world as well as international universities, hospitals, Grammy and Emmy-award winning performers and TV shows.  Will's work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, CNet, Mashable, Kotaku, NPR and numerous national media outlets. 

General Assembly is a global network of campuses for individuals seeking opportunity through education in business, design, and technology. They offering practical training in a variety of formats, ranging from single-night classes and live streams to multi-week intensive training programs.

Venture Cafe is a program of the Venture Café Foundation (VCF), the not-for-profit, public-purpose sister organization of the Cambridge Innovation Center. Its mission is to enable fresh and useful conversations, and to provide a resource for the Boston entrepreneurial and innovation communities.
