Mobile purchases have risen by 19% in the last year, according to the Stibo Systems 2013 Consumer Retail Survey.
Mobile purchases swelled from 40% to 59% during the last 12 months, according to the research.
However, 17% of people are put off from buying on their mobile because of the lack of information on mobile sites. 48% said that the screen was too small to be able to read the product info, while 46% said they lacked trust in the security of their device.
Ben Austin, Managing Director at SEO Positive, has responded to the data with interest:
Mobile search and mobile commerce are fast becoming huge parts of ecommerce and the retail industry. Thanks to ever evolving smartphones, purchasing on mobiles is becoming easier than ever and more and more consumers are turning to this route to purchase items because it is portable, quicker and they are never far from their phones. However, this research also highlights the need for the information on mobile sites to be clear and secure.
