Jupiter, FL (PRWEB) April 18, 2013

Start your engines, grab the sunscreen and get ready for a day at the races! The Stuart Sailfish Regatta is the place to be April 20 and 21, 2013, as the sport of powerboat racing makes a roaring return to Martin County.

More than 75 teams are expected to enter the Stuart Sailfish Regatta that includes inboard and outboard classes, Jersey speed skiffs that perform up to 70 miles per hour and supercharged 1,500-horsepower Grand Prix hydroplanes with speeds up to 170 miles per hour. The 1.1-mile racecourse is on the north side of the Stuart Causeway, visible by those with homes on the Indian River.

Several of the neighborhoods Waterfront Properties and Club Communities specializes in will have front-row seats to the Stuart Sailfish Regatta, including Sailfish Point and Sewalls Point. For those who dont have waterfront property in Stuart, paid spectator viewing and seating will be available on top of the bridge, along with free activities for children, vendors showing off boating- and marine-related supplies, luxury automobiles, homebuilding supplies and a Vintage Alley display by Rusty Sedlak, the past president of the Stuart Sailfish Regatta, which will chronicle the evolution of the powerboat and the American Power Boat Association Challenge Cup.

The Stuart Sailfish Regatta officially is sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association and will attract some of the top-tier powerboat racers from the nation, as well as a team of Canadian Grand Prix boats. Tickets cost $ 12 and can be purchased at all branches of Seacoast National Bank branches from Palm Beach north to Vero Beach. They also can be picked up at Chillin the Most at the Beach, a restaurant near the Hutchinson Island condos for sale across from Jensen Beach.

On the days of the event, gate entrance is $ 15, and children 10 and younger get in free. Military personnel pay $ 10.

For avid Stuart Sailfish Regatta spectators, VIP tickets are limited but available for $ 50, or $ 75 for both days, that include special seating, pit access, and food and beverages.

The Stuart Sailfish Regatta kicks off April 19 with the Pit Stop Regatta Rally under the Stuart Causeway, sponsored by Stuart magazine and the Stuart Jet Center. Guests will enjoy music by a Van Halen tribute band while mixing and mingling with the race teams.

Because of all the offshore action, the Stuart Causeway will be closed to traffic from 7 p.m. April 19 to 9 p.m. April 21. The alternative route for those with homes on Hutchinson Island is the Jensen Beach Causeway and short distance to the north.

Lindsay Nickerson, the Stuart Sailfish Regattas event coordinator, has arranged for spectator parking close to the Stuart Causeway, race with free shuttle service. One of those spectator-parking areas is Witham Field Airport, near Willoughby Golf Club.

The Hutchinson Island Marriott Beach Resort & Marina is the official resort of the race and will serve as the site for all activities before, during and after the event.
