Theres little debate that modern technology is changing the way Americans work. Cell phones and mobile devices continue to make it easier than ever to stay in contact. The question for businesses when implementing new technology is: how do employees feel about being contacted?
GetVoIP, experts in the VoIP communication field, have released the results of a new survey that looks into employee willingness to take work-related phone calls outside of work. Although the majority of respondents would answer their bosss call “always” or “sometimes,” a surprising 1 in 3 said they would never pick up if they knew it was their boss.
GetVoIP polled 1504 American workers over the age of 18 to find out How often would you answer your boss’s phone call after business hours? The survey results showed:

17% Sometimes Would
11% Rarely Would
34% Never Would
An employee’s income influenced their likelihood of answering the phone. Employees in the highest income bracket earning more than $ 100k annually were most likely to pick up the phone. More than half of high-income employees, 54%, said they would “always” answer their boss’s call.
GetVoIP surveyed 1504 people online through Google’s Consumer Survey tool on October 21, 2013 to ask the question: How often would you answer your boss’s phone call after business hours? This study did not include results from respondents that selected Not Applicable, leaving a total of 1043 participants.
