The Bobby Broom Organi-Sation will open for Steely Dan at the 2015 Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois on July 24th and 25th, at 8:00p. Last summer the Organi-Sation opened for the Dan on their Jamalot Tour in 54 cities across North America. One of the major markets not on the tour last year was Chicagoland.

“I’m at home enjoying a really great summer so far,” said Broom. “Lots of time spent with my family and in deep preparation for upcoming events with the Organi-Sation… But it got even better when I received the call to open for the Dan again for their two Chicago-area shows at Ravinia!”

It has been another good year for Broom. He received his fourth straight honor in June when he was named to the DownBeat Critics Poll as one of the top twenty Jazz guitarists in the world, and his Origin Records album with his other group, The Bobby Broom Trio, “My Shining Hour,” was ranked as the #38 Jazz album in the world by JazzWeek in January. The trio was also featured in an web video and radio special: Steve Rashid presents WDCB Live.

The Organi-Sation, a guitar-organ-drum trio, featuring Broom on guitar, Ben Paterson on the Hammond B-3 and Kobie Watkins on drums, was organized in 2014 by Broom to revive the format that Wild Bill Davis launched in the 1950s and shaped in the tradition of Jimmy Smith with Wes Montgomery (or Kenny Burrell), George Benson with Dr. Lonnie Smith and Pat Martino with Don Patterson, their sound found its way into the popular consciousness of the 1960s.

Ravinia Festival tickets are on sale, and while reserved tickets for both dates are sold out, there is lawn seating for both the 24th show and the 25th show. Arrive EARLY, get a great spot, something to eat and drink, and enjoy the Bobby Broom Organi-Sation’s pre-show show!
