This scene wasn’t a ‘screen test’, it was filmed during principal production. So I don’t know what you are referring to.

The scene where we see Smith say they are already dead could in fact take place after Trinity has killed the men. So it’s not a plot hole. Hence why he said they are “already dead”. Not because he’s trying to sound cool or bad ass. But because he actually KNOWS they are already dead (because he couldn’t take over their bodies).

you sir… are correct.. The only thing I can think of is agent Smith says, “your men are already dead.” so he could’ve been careless and thought they were dead but that’s pretty thin… Yeah you’re right lol

This was the screen test scene that convinced Warner Bros to give the go ahead on the film

(3:40) “5.2, 6.7, 9.0… Kenny Blankenship here at this year’s Olympic competition. Once again, the American star tumbler will lose points across the board for not smiling at all during the somersault event. It’s like she doesn’t want to be there at all. The judges are also still undecided about whether drawing firearms during competition constitutes ‘excessive jubilee’. We’ll be back to check on that in a moment after we have a look at the 100 meter sprint, coming up next.”
