Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 22, 2010
Mar Vista blogger Sarah Auerswald and neighborhood social networking service Open Neighborhoods have teamed up to launch The OPEN Daily, essential guide to the Westside.
Auerswald says she envisions The OPEN Daily as a virtual bulletin board, delivered to you each day, with relevant, local, helpful information, organized and in an easy-to-use format.
Conceived to help bring neighborhood residents together with local events and organizations in their community, The OPEN Daily publishes digestible bites submitted by the community. Westside locals can submit information about their business or event at http://www.TheOPENDaily.com/submit-free-listing. The email newsletter also publishes advice and tips from local experts, breaking stories in neighborhood blogs, updates from Westside schools, and great deals and giveaways from local businesses.
Expert columns include Career Tips from Jenny Yerrick Martin, career consultant and expert personal marketing specialist; Fitness Tips from Christine Kwok, whole health coach for individuals, communities, and corporations; and Neighborhood Action Tips from BongHwan Kim, General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.
In advance of upcoming city-wide elections for neighborhood council members, BongHwan Kim welcomes the new attention on neighborhood issues, saying The OPEN Daily and neighborhood blogs and social networks serve an important role in promoting awareness and public oversight over the local impact of elected Neighborhood Councils.
Auerswald is the face behind MarVistaMom.com, a popular online gathering spot for local moms in the Westside neighborhood of Mar Vista. Now serving as Editor of The OPEN Daily, Auerswald also blogs at the LA Moms Blog and on Yahoo Motherboard.
Open Neighborhoods co-founders James Brennan and John Ayers will serve as contributors to The OPEN Daily, covering topics ranging from neighborhood Arts and Entertainment, Eco-Living, Family Fun and more.
The OPEN Daily launches on Tuesday February 23rd at the Venice Grind (http://www.venicegrind.com) at 12224 Venice Boulevard (between Centinela and Grand View) with free coffee and gluten-free delights for first 50 customers to pickup a copy of The OPEN Daily postcard between 8:30 9am. Baked goods courtesy of Yvonnes Gluten-Free Goodies (http://www.yvonnesgfgoodies.com/).
